Does anyone else get these on hormones?
Almost every night I wake up in the early hours covered in sweat, sometimes completely soaked from head to foot. As winter kicks in, it's getting bloody cold! I'm assuming it's the meds, since it started around the same time they did.
I take spironolactone and micronized estradiol-17
No night sweats. In fact I have trouble sweating when I work out.
In fact, I don't recall EVER sweating in my life.
I do on and off, mattress was ordered water resistant in case, probably has more to do with my weird dreams then hormones.
actually, I get these. Nearly every night.
I've heard of others having this issue... but it's the opposite for me now. I get really cold at night. I wear a hoodie to bed with 2 blankets now. ???
Oh yes, I'm getting much colder now too - when I sweat at night, it's not because I'm hot, it's just because my body presses the "sweat" button - and I wake up freezing.
same here. It's horrible.
I sometimes get these, it is usually after a really weird dream, but that is pretty often too.
I get these every night , i wake up i use my hairdryer and go to bed again, but i am not on hrt yet, it's just my agitated brother inside of me, that expresses in this way my dreams' strong emotions.
It sounds crazy, i know, but i know is fixable with time and help, maybe i'll sweat even on hrt, maybe for the emotion of being finally me, one person in her own body, not prisoner anymore. But i guess that i will accept that sweating with more happiness than I do now!!!
They say that sweating as well as cooling the body down, is also a way of removing 'toxins' etc from the body.

In addition to hormone, and emotional issues, a chronic undetected infection can lead to night sweats. Try a Valerian infusion before going to bed, or melatonin pills. Also take your meds in the morning. If it continues, perhap a white blood cell count may be in order.
No. I almost never did before, and I haven't since I started HRT.
I have them, too. My bed sheets are soaked with sweat.
While I occationally get them it seems to have nothing to do with hormones, but more with days away from exercise, or eating crummy food too close to bedtime. A brisk evening walk might be a good idea. Melatonine, as mentioned above, has been a safe sleep aide for me, on evenings after very long drives-- I have no recollection of sweats associated with it.
Any way, if you sweat a lot at night, I'd think about replacing those electrolytes, in the AM! Best of Luck-

it happens to me randomly, i attributed it to the temperature of my room, i like a cold room and being toasty under my covers, i sometimes add a blanket and that usually makes me overheat or sometimes i actually get condensation happening between my blankets i believe
I asked my GP, and she said it's almost certainly the hormones.
I get it too. Not every night thank goodness. I use to have it really bad. Every night for years. Since I started HRT it does seem to be getting better now that I think about it. I was very uptight and stressed before HRT. Now I feel better, a whole lot better!!

As I understand it from my GG friends, night sweats/chills (and even hot/cold flashes during the day) are not uncommon when your hormones are going through any sort of adjustment or rebalancing. That's why they are such a frequent complaint of women undergoing menopause. If it's the hormones, the sweats should diminish once your body has acclimated to the new hormone balance. You might also notice unusual mood swings while your hormones are in flux.
As for how long it will take for your body to "get the message", only your doctor and your body can say with any certainty. :)
Oops. Forgot to add that some women have to deal with sweats/chills even when their hormones are in balance. Many family thermostat wars have started as a byproduct of this issue. Just one of the possible prices to pay for joining the sorority, I suppose.
sometimes, not too often.
Have you just recently gotten on the HRT?
If so I think your body is getting used to the new hormonal levels.
I had them for the first 2 weeks and then they subsided.
Another gal here had the same issue few weeks ago and her GP upped the E dose and then she was fine.
Been on them almost 3 months now.
I get these now and then too... SOOOOOOOO annoying.
Sometimes I wake up and have soaked my stuffed bunny while hugging it o.O Or my mattress is wet (so I roll over and lay inside of my cover so half is on the bed and half is on top of me... at least lets me get back to sleep).
I'm glad it doesn't smell or anything... just... grr, so annoying.
I had these for maybe the first 4-6 weeks or so of transition. I think my Testosterone wasn't low enough and the estrogen wasn't high enough. It could just be your body adjusting to things, or you might want to get blood work done just to see where your T and E levels are.
I went through some menopausal symptoms including anxiety, crawling skin, migraine (my first), sweating, shaking, muscle spasms and other stuff. It all went away with time in my case. I hope you figure it out, it did suck when it was happening to me :(

awww thats so adorable
I'm already sweating during the nights I'd hate to think HRT causes it to go further
Hi Padma
Sometimes when a woman commences the menopause she can experience hot flushes during the day and cold sweats during the night. This as others have mentioned is because her hormone levels are in a state of flux as they are in decline.
I read another of your topics on here and you mention your E levels were a bit too low on oral meds and you have been switched to gel. You may find as your E level rises, these sweats may start to reduce. Just a guess, but i hope they dont trouble you for too long.
Hormones do affect us at night too. When I first started hormones I had the most psychotic nightmares. I lashed out in my sleep smashing a glass on my bed side table. When my dose was increased the same happened again (no smashed glass this time) and lasted on and off for a couple of weeks. I am also much colder than i used to be. My hands and feet are like blocks of ice and at night I literally freeze until the bed and I warm up. The joys of becoming a woman. ;D I would rather these symptoms than being a guy any day!
I'm sweating loads less now, I don't know why but I'm happy with it :).

Same here, probably because it is winter and dry here and I am getting used to the HRT.

So of course I had them again last night ::).
