...and I love how it looks and feels! With my chest in particular, I love how it looks VASTLY more feminine without hair. I'm a bit self-conscious in the men's locker room now, but haven't noticed any weird stares or gotten any comments on it. This might seem trivial, but it does ease my feelings of dysphoria a bit, which is nice.
Good for you and many congratulations! ;D
Perhaps making a habit out of it?
Just don't overdo it like twice a day or something, as it will easily turn into nasty pimples and irritated and ingrown hair follicles then. :P
I actually recently started waxing my chest. I tried shaving before but it would always get irritated no matter what I did. I love it. :)
I shave legs and chest/tummy about once a week. Waxing is much better, but since I started menopause supplements (as a temp measure until HRT) the pain of waxing has become MUCH more intense....
Love that just-shaved feeling!
I like that just shaved feeling too.Hugs,Rachael.
How funny cause I did the exact same thing last night!! I understand the feeling, being pre-transition still I've learned to take comfort in the little things. I especially love the look of my legs when they are smooth and shiny lol. But congrats =)
You know, the one weird place I like having hair on is my arms, and don't ask me why. Well, not recently, as it's getting darker as I age, but used to, I really liked the way it looked. It did this curly swirl thing around my wrists and honestly always looked neat, even if I was a natal girl, I'd have been like "Psh, this is cool, deal with it" (as long as I was beautiful everywhere else.) I mean, as long as the hair is super light and thin, I've always been on a kick where I think hair on a woman's body should be more accepted in society, but sadly, I developed super thick bear hair on my body when I was 12, so meh. Never got to enjoy thin hair. If hormone therapy manages to thin out and blonde my body hair over the years, I'll give up shaving. I so do not want to do it for the rest of my life. Either that or lazer treatements! :D
I had my chest lasered as there wasn't much, it went well. Waxing is also good. And lots of guys get waxed so don't be put off, ever seen a hairy wrestler or body builder?
But it is a nice feeling.
Cindy
I will shave my legs for now as HRT seems to be doing a pretty good job of removing the hair there, and will reassess in another few months.
I had the second laser session on my chest and stomach today. It wasn't bad at all, as there wasn't a lot left between HRT and the first session.
I just love it when I am smooth all over. I just do a quick touch up twice a week in the shower and I am all good to go after that. I guess it also helps that I am not naturally hairy.
I love feeling soft n smooth! I would shave everyday i could! But I can't my skin gets irritated so easily, and I get many ingrown hairs and red bumps ouch! Even if I use nair! It sucks!

I tried Nair once. Worst. Decision. EVER! It burns my skin so badly and the hair always remained. It was like they were taunting me...

Things like nair depend on the body hair. If it is thick and masculine then nair is useless but if the hair is fine (feminine) then nair will 'burn' it off before it burns you. Male hair is simply too coarse - you dissolve before the hair does.

I actually had the opposite experience with my hair.
The first time I removed my body hair I used Veet (which is pretty much the same thing with a different name as Nair) and it worked like a charm. Since then I've been epilating my hair and it's gotten a lot thinner etc.
Then a while back I hadn't epilated my upper leg in a bit (got a massive rash from something) and it got long again so I tried using Veet again ... and it didn't do anything at all for that.
It seemed to only work for me when my hair was still thicker. How weird is that?
I don't think it's trivial at all. Being all smooth is so awesome. I think this is how it's supposed to be.
I had shaved legs for a couple of years before I was officially out. It was a great way to feel like I had done something to let my real self out, but didn't endanger me too much.
I just use bicycling as my excuse when I got asked and most people didn't even notice or say anything. My facial laser sessions are finally cheap enough that I'm going to start doing my lower arms and chest, because I too get too many ingrowns just from shaving. I can't do my upper arms or lower legs since tattoos and laser don't mix well, but they don't bother me as much as the arms and chest anyway.
I only shave my legs sporadically, but I absolutely do not tolerate my chest hair. I don't have a lot, but they are the only ones on my body that are long and dark. So I shave and pluck. Looking into that sugar syrup hair removal thing, might be a timesaver.
For people who shaved their legs before they were out... did people notice/say anything about it?

No one ever said anything. I shaved my legs for the last 15 years, way before I went out as me. I wore shorts regularly and no one ever said anything. I also played squash and worked out in gyms and no one ever said anything.
Cindy
No one has ever said anything to me either. To be honest I don't think 50% of them even notice. I have always had the answer ready...I don't like hair....but to date I haven't had to say it. I've been shaving my legs about 5 years.
I've always worn short sleeves...my wife was really worried when I first waxed my arms, but no one noticed. (I had moderately hairy arms before).
Last summer, I shaved my legs and wore women's sandals...no one noticed that, either (except for a couple groups of young teen girls; they just giggled LOL..but that might have been my painted toenails ;) )
For me it takes two days of work! I am serious! I tried to epilate but the pain and time required was too much, so I started shaving and it took hours and of course I had to make pauses to eat or relax because I could hurt myself if I was too much impulsive. So more than one hour for a leg, and so on... till i finally, in the morning of the second day had removed everything.
Some little blood to waste the feeling, anyway I did it in two occasions, and I remember to never had that nice feeling while sleeping. It was finally relaxing. There were some little sexy also, something to manage accurately to think it as an everyday condition, but the reason why I stopped is simple, it lasted just 2 weeks. And after that i was back that haired guy I knew before.
This is the main reason why I will go to laser epilation ASAP
So many male sports people shave that it is very common among men.
I did laugh a few years ago in the Tour de France.Cyclists shave their legs for some reason, not sure why, but one came off his bike and tore his shorts off. It became obvious to the world that he shaved a lot more than his legs >:-) >:-) >:-) >:-) >:-)
Cindy
Don't you just LOVE the feeling you get when you put on a pair of loose pants or pajamas just after shaving your legs? :D :D :D Honestly there is no feeling in the world more heavenly than that, I wish I could shave every day, but it makes my skin really irritated so I only do it like once a week.

I remember being SO scared because the first time I shaved my legs it was before I had come out, and I went to tennis practice so I had to wear shorts and I kept trying to cover my legs because I was scared they'd ask me why I didn't have hair on my legs and I would be like... Uhm... It fell off?
One of my older friends had that same problem with her guy friends, and they actually asked her! She just said that her hair had fallen out because she was overweight (total bs of course) and they believed her. ;)
It's so funny reading these posts as a Transman because I remember when I first STOPPED shaving my arms and legs and how great it felt to just let it grow. :)

That's probably the biggest reason I sneak into the FTM section...to get a different perspective on things.
I really wish everyone had "quick detach" genitalia so we could just swap gear. (Hmm...come to think of it, why can't they transplant testicles or ovaries like they do kidneys and lungs...?)

Haha, I've thought about that. That would be VERY beneficial and it seems like it'd be so much easier, right? lol

I've been shaving my entire body for nearly 10 years now. I only came out earlier this year. Yes, people noticed, but if someone asked, I didn't lie; I told them I shave because I hate hair, simple as that.
Off-topic...
I shave once every four to five days, and use an epilator on my chest, tummy and pelvic region. I've been using an epilator for so long I literally feel nothing. Between the shower, shaving and using the epilator, it takes me roughly an hour overall.
As for the feeling of being freshly shaved, omg, yes. It is
amazingly refreshing.
I must get into the routine, but i am so hairy it takes guts to do it!

That's exactly how I feel! I would shave so much more of my body if I didn't have so much in the first place. I'm pretty set in waxing the chest. I wonder if I'd have the guts to get my legs waxed to kinda start the process... lol
