Post by: RhinoP on December 08, 2011, 02:39:07 AM
Lady Gaga - The Queen:
Lady Gaga - The Queen (with lyrics) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz3b7YO4Rbo#)

^ A song about finding the inner Queen in yourself, being the woman you want to be - the lyrics translate very extremely relative to Trans feelings.

Lady Gaga - Dance In The Dark
Lady Gaga - Dance In the Dark (New Single 2010) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c19ifzrB6FE#)

^ A song about a girl who loves to dance in the dark, because when "he's" looking, she falls apart. To me, this describes what I feel when I look in the mirror.

Sweetbox (Jade Valerie) - Beautiful Girl

Sweetbox (Jade Valerie)- More Than Love

Only Road - Coyote Grace at Tsunami Books, Eugene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wioEulogXQI#)

This band is amazing and has plenty of songs about being trans, as well as queer.
:]
I figured I'd post this here.

Metallica - Mama Said (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBK7rdSG33k#)

Not actually a trans-themed song but the lyrics can be interpreted that way.
I actually listened to this over and over again when I was dealing with my messed up thoughts last summer. Always ended up crying for some reason. :-X

Sorry RhinoP but I can't row in behind "Born this way". I liked it initially but now I am tired of seeing people quote it all the time, It just seems contrived to me now.

On a personal note my own favourite Trans themed (or at least can be related to my trans feelings) songs include Placebo - Running Up That Hill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KEEXyRL0qE#)

better than Kate Bush IMHO
and of course no song says internal torment like
Johnny Cash - 'Hurt" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o22eIJDtKho#)

Both this and NIN original (NOT Leona bleedin' Lewis insipid attempt)

And mostly just one or two lines in songs that overall are not relatable as a whole.
Such as "It's something of a pity but you'll never understand, How a boy can grow and still never be a man" - Speed of Darkness, Flogging Molly
There are many others but I won't post all of them

Well this is "Sex Changes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO-dT913Zmg#)" by the Dresden Dolls.

And this is "Half Jack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2njonoOMEU4#)" by the Dresden Dolls.

Both are kind of depressing and Half Jack is more about Intersex.

I know this isn't officially a trans or motivational song but I find that the Lion King bersion of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?"  could definately to targeted as trans related if one thinks about it.

"Cherry Lips" by Garbage is one of the most trans related songs i have heard, just read those lyrics ;)

She gave you everything she had
But she was young and dumb
She'd just turned twenty-one
She didn't care to hang around
So when the **** came down
Why she was nowhere to be found
This life can turn a good girl bad
She was the sweetest thing
That you had ever seen

You're such a delicate boy
In the hysterical realm
Of an emotional landslide
In physical terms

With your cherry lips and golden curls
You could make grown men gasp
When you'd go walking past them
In your hot pants and high heels
They could not believe
That such a body was for real
It seemed like rainbows would appear
Whenever you came near the clouds would disappear
Because you looked just like a girl
Your baby blues would flash
And suddenly a spell was cast

You hold a candle in your heart
You shine the light on hidden parts
You make the whole world want to dance
You bought yourself a second chance

Go Baby Go Go
We're right behind you
Go baby Go Go
Yeah we're looking at you
Go baby Go GO
Aw we're right behind you
Go Baby
Go Baby
Yeah we're looking at you
Go

Not motivational at all, unfortunately. But would like to add "Drama der Geschlechtslosigkeit" by Sopor Aeternus and the Ensemble of Shadows. Trans-related, at least.

Cherry Lips, aaah - I really love that song! :)

I guess I'm old school.

Lou Reed - Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Aerosmith - Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
Kinks - Lola

My personal favorite trans-related song:
Against Me!-The Ocean (Acoustic) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvWeP18RpmM#)

It's written from a MTF point of view, but the words "There is an ocean in my soul where the waters do not go" really speaks to me. It really discribes how it's like to have a whole world, a whole person inside of you that is invisible to the outside world. That's how i understand it anyway.
