HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — A transgendered Cass County man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges that he shot and killed his girlfriend in 2009.
Michael Adams, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting and killing 36-year-old Amber Hartwig at their Belton home in July of 2009.He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
According to neighbors, Adams was transforming into a woman, taking hormones and had long hair and fingernails. But Hartwig, the mother of Adams's two children, wanted him to move out because he didn't have a job and she wanted to move on with her life.
What an awful article. What does this person being transgender got to do with anything? I thought I'd change up the article to refer to a cisgendered man (which I refered to as a woman since the original article misgendered the subject of the article) to show how absurd it is.

HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — A cisgendered Cass County woman pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges that she shot and killed her girlfriend in 2009.
Michelle Adams, who was born Michael but didn't change her name because she didn't transition and thus is still goes by the name Michael, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting and killing 36-year-old Amber Hartwig at their Belton home in July of 2009. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
According to neighbors, Adams has chose not to transform into a woman after puberty, forgoing androgen blockers and estrogen and had short hair and fingernails. Since she hasn't taken androgen blockers or estrogen, she has a flat chest, deep voice, and is very hairy. Nonetheless, her behavior is still very feminine and it's pretty obvious that she was meant to be a woman. But Hartwig, the mother of Adams's two children, wanted her to move out because she didn't have a job and she wanted to move on with her life.
Prosecutor Teresa Hensley says the then 18-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son were packing up their belongings. It was July 2009 and their mother had told the kids she was leaving their mother and that they would go with her. Adams was drunk. She shot Hartwig in the head then shot herself in the chest.
Adams told the court she suffers from cisgender identity disorder and even after her arrest for murder, she was not taking hormone therapy drugs.
Hensley says she feels bad for everyone involved.
" It is incredibly heart breaking for me with the son, the son and the daughter, were in the home at the time," Hensley said. "I know obviously it's been difficult and will continue to be difficult for them the rest of their lives."
Adams' 18-year-old daughter actually heard the two shots and found her mother dead on the floor, while Adams was sitting on the floor and smoking a cigarette.
Adam's psychiartist believes that her cisgender identity disorder may have played a factor in her criminality, with Adams committing the murder as a means of trying to prove her false manhood.
FOX 4 was told the two children now live with their grandparents in Iowa.
Not all of us are angels. Some are even down right demons.

Let's keep in mind the truly important thing here.
Their are children with out a mother, because their other parent kilked her.
Sad, very sad.
I am pretty appalled with the 15 year sentence. I think murderers should spend the rest of their lives in prison. If you permanently take away someone's life, as well as permanently scar the people who knew the murder victim with grief, you should have your life severely restricted for as long as you live. I don't think it's fair to the children that she's gonna get to walk free in 15 years.
