While the start-up carrier PC Air has defied an industry norm by hiring four transsexuals as flight attendants, more established airlines in Thailand are reluctant to follow suit.
Senior executives of several leading carriers, who spoke to the Bangkok Post on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, were not quite ready to bring the third gender on board.
The executives acknowledged the airline industry has not openly adopted them for frontline service.
Soon enough, though, that dilemma, too, even there, will be dealt with, with new laws that prohibites discrimination based on Gender expression.
Despite this, Thailand is still a big forerunner on the issue of gender bending acceptance. :)
How many people have actually met a Ladyboy?
I and a group of friends met a group of Ladyboys that were over here in UK - I've no idea how many such groups there are and can't remember the exact name of that one but they were here on a singing tour and to check on the TS situation.
Chatting to them after the show they really nice group of MtFs and FtMs all aiming for surgery and wanting nice jobs, partners etc just doing the Ladyboy thing to get the money for surgery.
between numbers I listened to the audience around me coming out with all the usual nasty transcrap about them and having no clue to what makes TS tick.
