About 250 people staged a rally in the Capitol Rotunda on Monday to demand a vote in the House of Representatives on a bill that would prohibit domestic partner benefits for public employees.
Senate Bill 152, sponsored by Sen. Vernie McGaha, R-Russell Springs, was passed in the Senate but died in the House Health and Welfare Committee last week on an 8-8 tie.
Several speakers' remarks were punctuated by the crowd's loud shouting of the phrase, "Let them vote."
