A Massachusetts newspaper is catching heat for mocking transgender celebrity Chaz Bono and a new state law prohibiting discrimination against gender identity. In its Dec. 19 edition, "The Lowell Sun ran the following lyrics, meant to be sung to the tune of 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer' as part of an article titled 'Christmas carols — with a twist,' written by columnist and copy editor Dan Phelps:"

I really can't see why anyone should not be permitted to do this.

I do hope this line, which was indicated as a punch line in the attack, shouldn't be seen as negative. Even if that was it's original intent.

If the advocates and supporters of transgender in Massachusetts could only think for a moment, this is a pretty good opportunity to turn a silly ditty into something positive.

I wonder which lame  :icon_censored:  came up with that one... I'd say it reminds my of jr. high school but I don't want to insult the children
