Just in time for gift giving, this awesome kid is stationed in girls' section of Toys "R" Us, doling out a diatribe on the gender-binary of toys. Rad.

Some of her language clearly reveals that these are ideas she had learnt from her parents - but her own comments about them reveal that she has really thought about it properly for herself. It's pretty cool.

She doesn't say that Gender is a construct, she only says that boys and girls do not have excludingly binary tastes.
If Gender would be a construct, then that would also mean that Gendervarianted people do not exist either, and not the least, that Transsexualism doesn't either.

Speaking of it, by the way, It made me remember a mother of two, that had raised her small children in a gender-neutral enviroment as she did not wanted them to be "locked" in their expressions. However, when she one day desided to experiment by giving the boy a doll with a baby carriage and the girl a car, it ended up with the girl dragging around the car as a baby carriage and the boy trying to shoot away the doll with its carriage.

We're not sure if little Riley, 5, was coached by her parents to rail against corporations that reinforce gender stereotypes or whether she's the kind of baby who orders her own subscription to Mother Jones.

We're just gonna act like this is unrehearsed.

Standing in the middle of a toy store, this little proto-Steinem loudly bemoans how toy companies trick little girls into obsessing over princesses and making boys gaga for action figures. "It wouldn't be fair for all the girls to buy princess and all the boys to buys superheroes cause... [some] girls want superheroes."

Obviously Riley is repeating what her parents have taught her.  Her dad is kind of leading her in the video.  But I like the fact she is being brought up in an environment where gender stereotypes aren't being supported.  I did the same with my daughter and there were times she would have sounded like Riley.  ;D
