Title: T making the face fatter
Post by: Dominick_81 on December 29, 2011, 04:04:22 PM
Anyone else on T who's face is getting fatter every month?

It seems every month my face is getting fatter and fatter and I know it's due to the T and the way the fat has redistributed but it's driving me crazy. It seems my weight keeps going up and my diet hasn't changed since I was pre-T. The way fat has redistributed everywhere  made me beefier (bigger) and I don't like it.

I'm just wondering if others are seeing their weight go up and up, especially in the face? Have you notice if you've become beefier or bigger then you were pre-T?

I've read about guys going through a puffy fat face stage, but when does that start? Jan 15th will be 11 months on T. Am I just entering the puffy fat face stage now?

You should work out and watch your diet to keep off weight. You should also massage the muscles of your face and neck to keep fat from lumping and sagging there. Believe me, it helps and keeps the skin build up around those areas rather "firm".
I saw my weight go up, and about 20 pounds, but not in my face really. I don't think I look any "bigger" in that area except below my jawline and even then, it's not in a fat sort of way...it's because the Adam's apple that has formed. Additionally, most of the weight I've gained elsewhere is muscle. According to a body fat caliper, I'm approximately 10% fat at the moment.

I think it's water retention(?)

My face looks chubbier even though I've lost 20 lbs.

Men get beefy when they don't constantly exercise.

This.  Not all men, of course, but many.  I've gained weight in the 8 to 9 odd months I've been on T, but it's muscle.  I was at 17% body fat when I started T, and now I'm at about 10%.  I'm bigger (especially in my shoulders and arms), but still small-ish overall.  I'd say 'wiry' describes me well.

My diet changed; I eat a lot more, but I also work out 4-5 times a week.  I do 30-45 minutes of cardio at least 3 times a week, I walk 2+ miles on most of the days I don't, and I do weight lifting/pull-ups/push-ups/core work 3 times a week.

As for my face, sometimes it looks puffier than others, and that's water retention for sure, probably HRT related.  Overall though, my face isn't fatter.  It's thicker in places, but thinner over all I think.  My cheeks thinned out a bit, and my jawline looks sharper.  Somehow I have a 'blockier' look to my face though, but it's subtle.  I do think the 'bloat' from water retention is responsible for a lot of guys on T having fatter faces though.

Testosterone definitely has the potential to make some people gain weight without diet or activity change, it depends on one's genetics.  The guys in my family have fast metabolisms and tend to be ectomorphs, and I think I'm similar.  I know several transguys who have gained fat though, and they're starting to exercise to get some of it off.  That's probably a necessity for many, no matter what their diet is.

I don't know, guys. Judging by the participation in the last bacon thread, I'd say blaming the T may be misguided! Hugs, Devlyn

Sounds like water retention to me. My face got wider, now it's going back down. I also now have muscles below my temples which makes my face wider too.

At first I gained 10 lbs when I started T, now I've lost it all and it keeps going down. Now I weigh less than I did pre T.

I've been on a month and a half  and at first my face seemed to be slimming a little and then POOF . It's getting fatter =[ hopefully it passes by.

It's from the weight gain, not necessarily the testosterone.  Eat healthier and exercise to keep your weight under control.
