Title: Exercise for a feminie shape
Post by: Kukaku on December 31, 2011, 03:44:49 PM
Hey all,

I'm a month away from beginning my hormones, and I figure it would be a good time to lose some weight.  I figure I do a lot of cardio like running, although this may sound silly, but I'm hoping I don't lose breast fat.  Also I also want to tone my muscle, actually wish I could reduce them, without building them up.  So, I thought Yoga would be good, but I don't know the first thing about yoga.  So if any of you ladies have any exercise tips, or a beginners guide to doing yoga, I would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks ^_^,

Kukaku

That's a brilliant idea. But as for worrying about what might or not build up, stop. You're starting hormones, so the appropriate parts will be built up.

I have been on HRT for about 9 months now, and am slowly gaining a more feminine figure.  I don't have a specific exercise program, just lots of walking, and also cycling and lately kayaking.  I am happy with slow progress and am not looking to lose any weight, just shift it around and stay generally fit.

This brings to mind something you might want to consider. I've heard that if pubescent girls are active in athletics they tend to have small breasts for life. Note that most Olympic athletes  have small busts. Apparently a certain level of exercise interferes with feminine hormones during that critical period of developing feminine secondary traits. You might want to talk to your doctor about this before starting an exercise program so that you don't counter the effects of your HRT during these early stages. You certainly want to exercise enough to keep fit, but I'm wondering if maybe it would be wise to work on weight loss later. I'm not knowledgeable on this, but I'm sure there are people here with some experience to share.

Ah I didn't even think of that.  I think though if I do it now before I start taking hormones I should be fine, right?  I just want to get rid of any male fat before hand.

I dont know what will work for you, only you can figure it out. But what has been working for ME is this:

- I didn't do any exercise at all except moderate cardio, that is, long walks. I keep with this until I felt my weight was fine and I had lost a moderate amount of upper body musculature. I was on HRT already and the low testosterone levels helped a lot with muscle loss.

-Now I am working on building a feminine shape, stronger legs, thigs, butt, lots of abs, the works, and enough upper body exercise just so my upper body has some tone. I don't do pectorals yet, as they are still reducing, though I will begin doing those fairly soon so I have musculature to keep my breasts from going saggy as they mature.
