As we approach 2012 tonight, I've reflected how my beauty routine has changed this year once i began transitioning...
My 2012 beauty routine will consist of:
HAIR (from top to bottom):
Clarifying shampoo 2x a week
Conditioning daily
Deep conditioning 2x a week
Tweeze all over face including eyebrows 2x a week
Shave armpits, legs, and butt 1x a week
Shave pubic hair once in a blue moon (lol)
FACE:
Wash with a toner and antiaging facial creamer in shower
Apply eye cream under the eyes every morning to reduce and prevent puffiness/bags
Apply antiaging and antiwrinkle cream to face all over face every night
Use a cooling bead eye mask 1x a week to prevent puffiness
Use a facial peel-off mask 1x a week
NAILS:
Buff, polish, and clip both hands and feets nails daily
Get acryclics once in a while for special events
Get a mani and pedi once a month
FEET:
File down any dry or cracked skin on the heel and sole with a EggPedi
Soak feet in mineral oil in a basin 1x a week
Apply lotion to feet and slip in absorbent socks every night
WHEW! I think that pretty much cover it! lol.
What s yours?
Ugh. I envy you to have that much time. About all I can fit in for this year is a shower.. shampooing and conditioning my hair once or twice a week, flat ironing my hair afterwards.. or probably the day after since I don't have much time between getting home from school and needing to go to bed. I'll get my classmates to wax my eyebrows and give me a facial whenever possible but ..
Oh, and I'll be lasering my face until it's gone, then I'll move onto my arms, then my legs and torso area. Hopefully by the time I get to my legs and torso, the hormones will have eliminated most of my body hair. It's falling out but I have TONS of hair to get rid of lol! My eyebrows and other awkward places hair grows (like my ears) will be checked everyday and tweezed as needed. I'm probably going to slowly create a feminine eyebrow shape as the months go by.
In the mornings I'll probably slap on some concealer to hide the ugliness under my eyes.
I can't even touch my nails.. with my work I'm breaking them all the time. God I can't wait to graduate, I'll be a licensed cosmetologist hopefully by the beginning of next year! Then, hopefully my hormones have done what they're suppose to do and I can transition!
This is my current care routine.
HAIR:
Therapeutic shampoo daily - Desert Essence Tea Tree Replenishing Shampoo
Conditioner daily - Live Clean (Fresh Water) Moisturizing Conditioner
Blow dry + styling wax daily - Giovanni Magnetic Force Styling Wax
Hair cut once every 4-6 weeks
Facial electrolysis for 1 hour 3x a week
Tweeze eyebrows 2x a week
Shave armpits daily
(I'm currently letting my legs alone while I try to fix some ingrowns, but normally 2-3x a week)
FACE:
Cleanser, morning and evening - CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Day moisturizer - Kiss My Face, Face Factor SPF30
Night moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM
Day lip balm - Green Beaver SPF15 Lip Balm
Night lip balm - The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick
Chemical exfoliator 2x a week - derma e AHA Beauty Fluid
Neosporin on FFS scars every evening
I also use Tend Skin on my face before and after electrolysis - it's an alcohol wash with aspirin in it
BODY, HANDS, FEET:
Wash: Aveeno Stress Relief Body Wash
Exfoliate with puff 2x a week
Tend Skin on legs 2x a day
Moisturizer, morning and evening (legs, feet, hands, tattoo): CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
Hand salve to fight winter weather, multiple times a day: Burt's Bees Hand Salve
Foot lotion (replaces moisturizer in the evening): Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme
Clip nails 2x a week
Anti-bacterial soap on piercings each morning: Tersaseptic
Saline soak on healing piercings each evening
All the products are reasonably non-toxic (or at least as much as possible for what they do) and high quality. I may not be femme, but I take my body pretty seriously.
I really, really need to take better care of my nails, but I have a hard time with files - the sound makes me want to scream. I'm hoping to sort that out in the next couple months. I also want to get a pumice stone to remove a couple callouses on my feet that I don't need anymore since my insoles have changed. Also thinking about changing my conditioner, but I haven't found one I like yet.
MsDazzler: Deep conditioning twice a week is too often for even the driest hair. Once every week or two should be enough for anybody. Years ago I was trying to see how long I could reasonably grow my hair and grew it to about elbow length. My hair is fine textured and tended to be dry toward the ends. My routine was to shampoo every 3 days with good quality shampoo and rinse out conditioner, followed by spraying in some Infusion 23, followed by some moisturizing mousse. After 3 years or so of this I trimmed a few inches off the ends and my hair texture was just incredible (in a good way).
As for the face, moisturizing is the most important thing. I cleanse and use a moisturizer daily, but I also keep a mister bottle of distilled water and spritz my face now and then through out the day.
As for myself in 2012... I'll aim to improve my makeup skills. Makeup is my least favorite aspect of this girly stuff.

Yes, thank you... I forgot all about exofilating too! A-must in any routine to keep your skin glowing
And I suggest PediEgg for filing your feet soles - it is only the product that really works and remove the calluses ... pumices do squat

you just contradicted yourself? lol. look at where I underlined
As I don't really have a routine yet figured out, I have to borrow a few of yours. The only thing I've decided so far is to really kick hair removal into high gear. Learning good makeup skills should also be on my list.

As for my beauty routine, it will be getting a step up. No "official" list yet, but I'll admit 2011 was a lazy year and that won't be the case for 2012.

Omg, girl, what do you look like everyday if you don't have a routine? or what do you do everyday if you don't have a routine?

I unfortunately look like a typical guy. My routine consists of nothing special: shampoo, exfoliate, lotion, shave.
It's one of my resolutions to really work on trying to get rid of this whole male appearance thing. But I'm still stuck living with my parents for at least a month or two, and it's hard to do anything with them around. I try a green tea polish thing for my nails, they go off on how "it makes me look gay and that would absolutely terrible." If my hair gets a little long for their liking, they have their old barber friend come over to the house and cut it because "I have to look professional."

I feel stuck having to do that for the time being. They're not the most understanding people when it comes to this sort of thing.
I feel as though I've derailed this thread.

that is okay that always can happen...
I cant believe no one else has a beauty routine...
Now I am getting suspicious since not many people have been forthcoming about their beauty routines...
So you really do nothing at home to even enchance your feminity or adopt feminine routes? * hands on hips * even if you wear wigs, surely you have a beauty routine for them such as washing, soaking etc...
or you just toss them in the closet when you are done? heh

Computer games and being "rebels" are too important than actually putting forth effort.
Those who can't....don't. LOL
Maybe they are intimidated by our lists?
I had no idea what the ->-bleeped-<- I was doing a year ago, if that helps people be more forthcoming. Totally not going to judge.

Yeah... even if your routine is short and simple, let us know!

gosh poor you!!! :(
Okay, here's my list...
• Shower daily using Softsoap coconut/shea butter body wash
• Shampoo daily with Nexxus Therappe
• Condition daily with Pantene Pro-V
• Facial LHR every six weeks (though currently postponed after six sessions)
• Tweeze eyebrows whenever needed (checked daily)
• Clip nails whenever needed (checked daily)
• Shave/epilate body hair once a week using Venus razor and Skintimate shaving cream / Braun Silk-épil Xelle epilator
• Facial cleansing morning and evening with Neutrogena Microdermabrasion (soon to get the Clarisonic Mia)
• Daily facial moisturizing with generic SPF 15 facial lotion / various other facial moisturizers
• Daily hand moisturizing with Olay shea butter lotion
• Daily body moisturizing with Vaseline cocoa butter lotion
• Lip balm frequently with One shea butter/coconut
• Deodorant daily with Mitchum for Women (Powder Fresh)
• Fragrance frequently with scents from Bath and Body Works (currently Sea Island Cotton or Hawaii Coconut)
• Make-up daily with Neutrogena, Clinique, and VS make-up products / Elf brushes
So, ya. That is that. For this year, there are really only a few things I can think of right now that I'd like to work on beauty-wise, but I feel they are important...
• Healthier diet and exercise
• Enhance make-up skills
• Better hair, nail and skin care
• Buy and use consistent products as opposed to my current buying whatever is decent and low cost

Okay, I'll post my current list. As I said before, this year I intend on stepping up my routine as I feel it's quite lazy. Anyway, here goes...
• Shower daily using Softsoap Coconut Scrub body wash
• Shampoo daily with Nexxus Therappe
• Condition daily with Nexxus Hydra Sleek or Pantene Pro-V
• Facial LHR every six weeks (though currently postponed after six sessions)
• Tweeze eyebrows whenever needed (checked daily)
• Clip nails whenever needed
• Shave body hair once a week using Venus razor and Skintimate shaving cream
• Facial cleansing morning and evening with Neutrogena Wave and Cetaphil cleanser
• Day facial moisturizer with Neutrogena Spectrum Face (SPF 100)
• Daily body moisturizing with Vaseline Cocoa Butter lotion
• Day lip balm with One Shea Butter/Coconut
• Deodorant daily with Mitchum for Women (Powder Fresh)
• Fragrance applied many times throughout the day and night using scents from Bath and Body Works (currently Sea Island Cotton)
• Neutrogena make-up products (typically just a bit of foundation)
So, ya. That is that. I suppose once I become employed again, certain products will be replaced with better (more effective) ones. But for now, I manage with what I can. For this year, there are really only a few things I can think of right now that I'd like to work on beauty-wise, but I feel they are important...
• Healthier diet and exercise
• Enhance make-up skills

Max, the lead stylist cuts my hair and said, "I have a nice neck".
The ones I find at walgreens/sallys.
It's like "tasty mask" or something.
- Shower with body wash and facial scrub (St.Ives) twice a day.
- Shampoo & Condition hair (Dove deep moisture!) twice a day.
- Body lotion (also St.Ives lol) twice a day.
- Day cream (Olay) when I wake up.
- Night cream (Prevage night cream, kinda pricey though) at night.
- Deep condition (Home made using olive oil, sugar, and vanilla) once very 2 weeks or so mainly cuz I already have great hair so I don't need it lol.
- Perfume/body spray's, anti-perspirant daily.
- Mac Face & eye primer before I apply my makeup.
- Makeup (All MAC...i'm addicted to MAC baby!)
- Salon to get eyebrows done and full Brazilian wax every 3-4 weeks.
- Hair dresser to trim ends and style hair.
I think that's it? :eusa_think:
Thank you for your contribution.
So, that makes, what, 6, of us so far that have beauty routines?
I wonder if all of you live in California? LOL
I have a few though. I use Ahava products to soak in body baths, scalding hot water though and then dead sea salt. I also recommend peeling creams just because they freshen your face so much.
I'll get my brows shaped every few months or so. But I'm also forty years old and have been married for 12 years so I'm not exactly trying to gussy myself up. One thing I have been totally blessed with is the fact that I have flawless skin. Never a pimple or break out. So that might contribute to not having a beauty routine. I honestly don't need one. When I've tried to do it in the past I've just wound up breaking out.
OK, here's mine..
- Shower with Dove body wash
- Shampoo & Condition (Sunsilk) hair every 2nd day.
- Shave face.
- In shower Cleanser and Toner for face daily - same thing + exfoliating every 2nd or 3rd day
- Nivea Q10Plus Eye Care cream daily.
- Dove Essential Nutrients Protective Day Cream inc SPF 15 (this is for the face)
- Body lotion (Dove Firming Lotion) morning and night.
- Sunscreen on exposed areas
- Perfume/body spray's, anti-perspirant daily.
- Eyebrows done 4 weeks or so, with touch ups by me as needed.
I do my legs once a week, or whenever they start to annoy me. Armpits every couple of days. This year I need to get on to some permanent hair removal for my face - but I need a job before that will happen.
Should look in to some masks and maybe a peel too.. But there's only so much I can do on my current budget..
They discontinued a peeling cream that was AMAZING. I think you could get it a bit cheaper Kelly aus due to your location. It's not a peeling mask, it's a cream you put on and then wait and then use a wash cloth to slowly wipe off the cream and it peels off a layer of skin and rejuvinates your whole face as if you've had a facial.
My skin is so pale and delicate that anything more caused me to break out so I loved this.

Always do.

it
Thanks! I am still playing around with it, though - because my hair is very difficult to handle and still havent fiund the right product to handle it
Blah, ok I'll give my rather plain routine
1. Wash face with Johnson & Johnson gentle cleansing wash.
2. Apply Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion on the face.
3. St. Ives Renewing Collagen moisturizing lotion on arms.
4. Apply Merrel Norman Retouch Color Cream (Concealer) under eyes and on nose.
Shampooing:
Twice a week I'll shampoo and condition with Biolage Matrix Straightening Repair. Then I'll let it air dry if I have time, apply Not Your Mommas thermal protectant, and flat iron my hair to get the frizz out. I don't even need hairspray. Between shampoos I will occasionally use Ion Daily Solutions anti frizz oil on my hair, then fluff it a lil if I feel the need to. If I fluff, I will set it.
Evening maintenence:
Every day I get out the tweezers and pull some hair out along the browline. Every couple of weeks I laser my face, hands and feet. I normally shower and use sunsoap but I'm thinking of switching. I think the fragrances in it are drying my skin out even more than it naturally is. No idea what I may switch to, I'll probably go to Salleys or Armstrong Mccall and get something nice since I can get a discount.

I go to the stylist for it. Hot oil is not to be tampered with. However they have olive oil treatments at beauty salon stores.
I've only done oil treatments on dry hair. I wouldn't think it would penetrate well enough if your hair was wet.

Actually, when shampooing, hot water opens the pores in your hair. However, cold water will close them.
But you don't really want to do anything with the hair when wet because it's more fragile when wet.. the elasticity is gone.
