I have a good natural diet, so hopefully won't be a victim of MPB, but am just wondering:
Is there anyone here who started HRT and began losing their hair AFTER?
Or are you pretty much immune to it once you've began hormones?
Hormones on their own won't necessarily prevent male pattern baldness, which is caused by DHT. You need something that actively suppresses DHT, such as anti-androgens and/or a 5a-reductase inhibitor such as Finasteride or Dutasteride (most people seem to rate the latter better).
Even if someone isn't going on female hormones but a strong history of male pattern baldness, I think they should start taking some sort of DHT blocker one they start to notice a receding hair line.

Doesn't every HRT regiment include fin or dut?

Not from what I hear from people on here - the meds vary wildly.
honestly, it's different strokes for different folks. Some experience miraculous changes, some experience some differences, and some experience none at all
Annah, are you talking about preventing hair loss, or about regrowth after loss, there?

dont you ever get tired of hearing the same question again and again, given your resounding success, Annah? :P

Both :)
Ive seen girls who continue to bald while on estrogen and spiro too. I just say, take the hrt and see what happens and then go from there

I just try to give advice where appropriate.

then their hair loss is not from DHT but from something else

yup thats why I said different strokes for different folks
I've been worried about a slightly receding hairline for a year or so now. (I'm 20 now.)
Is taking a DHT suppressor something that I can do while on HRT? Or should I just wait until I get on the 'mones to make a decision?
Also, where does one acquire this magical elixir?

Those of us who don't live in the US and are able to take cyproterone acetate don't need finsasteride or dutasteride, as the CA blocks both T and DHT..
I've actually regrown hair I hadn't even realised I'd lost.. :)
Progesterone can induce Female-pattern baldness and as you get older your hair is prone to thinning out anyway.
Seeing as Male pattern baldness is directly linked to male hormones (Ask the FTMs they go bald on T) the only way you could still be suffering or having the situation on that front get worse is if your hormone blocker dose is absent or too low.
