Sorry to sound like a weirdo specially to those who are highly rational and sceptic but I'm quite concerned about this 21.12.12 and the Mayan Calendar thingy. I have watched and followed some of Youtube videos about the End of the World and Mayan Calendar warning and some sounded pretty much convincing and creepy and I tried hard to be sceptic about it.
Am I the only one concerned about this? At times I think I won't be able to complete my transition before the 'End of the World' or even if not that, I just fear there's suddenly a World War III and Major War in the World and I can't transition. Did someone ever get this thought too? :o
Actually the Mayan world/culture/civilization came to an end long ago now. And their predictions missed that happening. So I wouldn't get too concerned.

That's basically my point. Calendars are strictly arbitrary. Just because one calendar ends does not mean it's the end of the world.

I don't believe the world is going to end as instantaneously as our feeble human minds would like to believe.
I've gotten paranoid before too, but truth is these predictions exists because of overly-imaginative people stretching the truth of the matter and passing on the word to others until it becomes like a game of Telephone.
It's always been this way - just word tends to get around a lot faster these days.

And you know that how? Archaeological guesswork? We know that they had a circular/cycle way of looking at the world and time, but most cultures do, liner ones are far rarer. But it's still just a guess. Best guess is that it's just a combination of the stone they used and the font size.

Yeah. And you know that the current residents of France are decedents of the Gauls. But it doesn't give them any special insight to what was going on there 12 centuries ago - so much changes over time that it's just about the hardest thing to go back and really understand what they were thinking, how they were seeing the world, and what the world looks like to them. Their link to this past civilization carries with it heritage, which is not to be mistaken for history. I mean we know that the civilization was on real shaky ground before the Spanish arrived, long before. The lowlands in particular seemed to have done an Anasazi and just ceased to exist, but no reasons (or even legends) ever explained why.

Nope, it is complete balderdash. Just because a calender ends, it doesn't mean there is a correlation to the end of the world. The Millenium Bug was more believable. If the Mayans were around today, I bet they would just have renewed their calender.
Also we know when the earth will end, in about 4 billion year when the sun runs out of fuel and expands to become a red giant. A large meteor hitting the Earth wouldn't be the end of the world, just the end of the majority of current life on earth. The dinosaurs ruled and were wiped out but they didn't have space travel or nuclear weapons
If the world ends, we won't have to worry about anything, and if it doesn't we can proceed as normal.

I'm with pebbles on that. I didn't think about the second one with the war but I'm not too concerned about that. As far as the end of the world I doubt it will happen but in the extreme case that it does then it wouldn't bother me because in my heaven I will be complete with the body I should have been born with without wondering how I'm going to pay for it or when are they going to cut me up down there or have needles stuck in me etc. so it's only a win-win situation for me. There was never any prediction of the end of the world. I think the Mayan scripts suggested the end of an era, start of a new one. There is some significant astronomy-related occurrence that coincides with their prediction, but I can't remember what, because I was investigating it a good 5 years ago at least. The Maya were actually incredibly gifted astronomers - they created what is believed to have been the most accurate calendar of the time and successfully predicted events like solar eclipses hundreds of years in advance. As a result, I don't find it unlikely that something will happen, but I do think it would be in the realm of astronomy, not wars or plague or any of that.
Not that it actually matters, because it won't be relevant for several dozen years.

I fully respect your belief, but you should know that this Ascension-stuff is a modern New Age-idea with roots in the 70's.
The Maya-Indians themselves never said anything of the sort about any Ascension. None. Nada.
The only thing they said about the year 2012, was that the gods will return to Earth once again from their long absence and a Golden Age will begin and that the current age in some fashion will stop. That the current age will stop have by many been interpretated as that the World will end, which is ofcourse possible, but it may just aswell mean that the Mayans considered the gods return in itself as being the start of the Golden Age.

modern- not Mayan.
That being said, some Ascensionlike scenario could ocourse hypothetically happen in some fashion- weird things happen all the time, but fact remains that the Mayans never ever said anything about anything even similar to any Ascension- only a Return.
I remember that 6/6/66 was going to be a bad. Then 9/9/99 wasn't going to be good, year 2000k was definitely going to be a bad.

70% of the worlds plants are actually pollonated by bats! Other plants are pollonated by birds and other insects or by the wind. Some even self pollonate. On NPR the other day, All Things Blathered About had an interview with Professor I. Noalot
teaching at Ikincee U. He said he may have discovered the cause of the hive collapse phenomena.

he became curious about what could be causing them to leave their hives at night and be drawn to the lights.
During his investigation, he discovered tiny maggots crawling on the carcasses of newly expired bees, in sealed containers.
The maggots were allowed to gestate, and they were identified by an entomologist buddy of his, as being a tiny fly
with a sharp thingy used to inject the microscopic eggs of it's parasitic larvae between the plates of the bees' exoskeleton.
He surmises that, in the later stages of gestation, as the bee is dying, the larvae are causing the bees to leave the hive
at night and seek out light, as a moth to a flame, possibly explaining how an entire hive can disappear over night.

Had to add two bits on the Mayan thing. The Mayan calendar is mostly based off of astronomy, think about it at night no city lights to obstruct the stars. the sky was a different place then. They based the movements and the cycles on events that had happened in the night sky. The current "calendar" ends when the back hole in the center of our galaxy, the Sun and the Earth all come into alignment. This is an actual real thing that will be happening in December and only happens.. oh about every 3,500 years or so. They were probably the first really accurate astronomers, this is when they felt that their Gods would return through the "Navel" of creation and return to the Earth to enlighten man kind and bring in a new age. Yes sounds crazy.. but the astronomy is correct. I think they compared the accuracy of the Mayans time to the Atomic clock and only found something like a difference of .002 with the atomic clock only being accurate to +/- .005 The world will continue to spin and chances are that Mayan Gods will not descend to Earth... But December is only a few months away I guess we'll all find out then. :o

As someone that has personal connections in NASA, I can assure you that we've looked into it and there is no conclusive evidence that the world will end from a naturally occurring cosmic event. The signs of such occurrences would have already started to manifest years ago. The galactic alignment that these conspiracy theorists keep falling back on has actually already occurred several years back. The earth has been through this process many times before in its 4.6 billion year history, and will continue to do so for several billion years more before Sol, our sun, grows into a red giant and engulfs the Earth and Mars, and maybe even ignites Jupiter into a binary sun When its supply of hydrogen runs out.

As for Gods of any sort coming down to earth to lay waste to the infidels, go watch Stargate SG-1. Gods based on the highly advanced Goa'uld, the Asgard, and the Ancients, is a plausible theory if you buy into all that alien stuff and consider them as merely highly advanced and/or evolved lifeforms. WARNING: I'm about to burst your doomsday bubble for all you doomsdayers out there- There have been about 514 leap Years since Caesar created it in 45BC Without the extra day every 4 years, today would be July 28, 2013. Also, the Mayan calendar did not account for leap year..... so technically the world should have ended 7 months ago.

It will not happen in one day. Many geoligists and seismologists are aware that planetary alignment effects the earths tectonic plates. A solar eclypse can cause an earthquake. The Mayans knew about the upcoming planetary alignment. It is a slow process. There has been an increase in natural disasters. More earthquakes ans tsunamis. Some animals can predict an earthquake. If your cat runs away from home, the dog hides under the bed and your pet water buffalo heads for high ground then be aware. For those who truly beleive in the end it may happen. Jim Jones made it happen in Guayana. The Davidians managed it in Waco Texas.

I believe it is just a new cycle. Every end is also a new beginning. I can be wrong but last time it happened we went from neanderthal to cro magnon. So this might actually be a good thing for transgenders because transgenders are a 3td gender which is in my opinion a natural step in the evolution of mankind. So maybe there will be more of us after 2012.
