Hi All,
First of all I can't say how unbelievably helpful this site has been for me. After reading so many inspiring stories on this site over the past year I figured that it was at least time that I threw mine into the mix as well.
I struggled with my identity since I was about 11 or 12 years old, although a combination of shame and fear etc. kept me from doing anything about it and I just tried to fit in. In fact I may have gone much longer without confronting and finally accepting myself had I not been shocked into it at the beginning of this year with the loss of my dearest friend. What did happen though was that I realized that I only had this one chance to live my life, and in January of this past year I finally started seeing a therapist. Since then I've come out to my friends, and while it was initially shocking for them, the ones who meant the most to me have definitely accepted me for who I truly am and I no longer have to hide myself behind closed doors. I started HRT at the end of November, and I'm finally on the road to becoming on the outside the woman that I am on the inside.
Anyway, thanks for reading! :D

Hi Alexis,
Welcome to Susan's. It appears there is no need to tell you all the fabulous benefits of being a member of the best family on the net. You've already experienced that.
A big hearty congratulations for, getting a TG therapist (best choice in the whole world), coming out (the most ugliest thing in life to do.) In fact I think GCS without anesthetics would be a 'cake walk' by comparison, and finally going on HRT. ( the best move ever).
I look forward to hearing your other highlights and sojourns as you experience them.
Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
