Title: Trans Friendly Employers
Post by: LanaJohn on January 09, 2012, 09:28:14 AM
I'm not really sure if this is the right place for this but If someone could direct me to a more correct forum I will be glad to move it. I recently followed a lead from a friend about possible employment. When I went to their website to apply I was so surprised at what I found. Geiger International is a furniture factory near Hickory, NC. Their introduction video is simple graphics with narration, people portrayed as the male/female bathroom symbols indicating family units. One included a male with child, another was two females with a child!!! When I got to the legalese, I found yet another: "... without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, citizenship status, religion, height, weight, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law." (emphasis mine)

I do not present as female right now, I'm married and suppressed...closeted but she knows about it; but this gave me hope and wanted to share a possible employment opportunity for TG's near Hickory, NC.  And for the record, I have just discovered EqualityNC. If you're in the area sisters or looking for relocation, maybe this will help someone.  Hugs, LanaB

Most companies want to be seen as LGBTQ-friendly, especially those which most are not.
