After Nikki Araguz, the transgendered widow at the center of a controversial lawsuit, was 40 minutes late to what was supposed to be her final appearance in criminal court Friday, a judge decided the Harris County Sheriff's Office will make sure she is not late for her next setting.

"It's too late for sorry!" boomed state District Judge Vanessa Velasquez as Araguz tried to apologize for her tardiness.

"You were scheduled for a plea today," Velasquez said. "That's not going to happen now."

She admonished the 36-year-old, then ordered a bailiff to put her in a holding cell next to the courtroom.

A Houston judge Friday jailed Nikki Araguz, the transgendered widow who is fighting in court to share her late husband's estate.

Araguz, 36, was expected at 8:30 a.m. in state District Judge Vanessa Velasquez's courtroom to plead guilty to stealing a Rolex last year.

Araguz missed docket call. When she walked in at 9:10, the judge called her to the bench before she could find a seat in the crowded courtroom.

"You were scheduled for a plea today," Velasquez said from the bench. "That's not going to happen now."

With respect, there have been QCs in this country who've been sent to the cells for being late.
