Title: Shopping for first legitimate STP, advice?
Post by: AJarrah on January 17, 2012, 02:10:03 AM
I've been using the medicine spoon for a while now, but now I'm looking into an STP packer. I've seen good and bad reviews for them all, and the modified "Mr Limpy" packers. Any suggestions on which ones are of the best quality? Thanks in advance

ive heard all commercially available stp packers suck my favorite stp is the whiz its really easy to use and its silicone with a hydrophobic coating so its sanitary and it wont get drops in your pants. only downside is its a bit big and you cant use it with a pcker as is you need to cut the end and add your own tubing

Oi STP Fitz is good and the modified Mr Limpy. If I'm not mistaken, you can buy those premade as well... just don't wear black briefs... because it sucks to clean. No matter how hard I clean it, I still can't get all the stuff off it.

I always go down as saying DJ KNOWS DICKS. They are the best IMHO. Pee + Pack + Jack = HAPPY!!!  ;D

I was considering the DJ ones, my only thing that doesn't make sense is on their FAQ it says you don't have to like, "adjust" it into place to use it. Does that mean it just chills there in the right spot at your urethra all the time?

^ That, and the last time I checked, his website seems rather... dead.

DJs website is down? OMG I will die. I ordered my last one in the fall, haven't been on it in a while. And the last one I ordered was the best one yet! He seems to have tweaked the design a bit. I get about 6-8 months of heavy use out of it before replacing. (They don't break, they just get funky. YMMV)

I'm not sure what you're saying about the no adjusting. You do have to get the medicine spoon in place, takes a second, right before you whiz.

Should this thread be in the gear section?

Check out TranZwear. They have STPs and harness and even underwear.

DJ's site is up for me, although I'm a little disappointed that the only color for any size is "Dinky Pink". But, beggars can't be choosers. I'll take anything right now I guess.

Strange observation but, just what would be  an illegitimate STP?

The offspring of a pool noodle and a firehose?

Don't buy a medicine spoon STP until you've practiced with a medicine spoon on its own and know if you can use it without dripping.  Not everyone's anatomy will allow it, or at least easily; mine won't.

I failed the STP-Fitz, the tubing was too large.  Flow wasn't strong enough so I'd splatter and drip.  Pulled it out of the packer and was going to make my own nipple attachment when I found some smaller tubing.  My mom saw it in my bathroom and asked what it was (just the tubing/nipple).  "Fish tank equipment."   Seemed legit to her.  A few months later, I go to drain a tank with a canister filter on it, and it's a pretty large tank, so it's a pain to hold a siphon in place if I can just drain it with the filter, but the filter intake isn't long enough.  Guess what stretches over it to extend it right down to the bottom of the tank, the nipple end letting the water level get lower than the cut end of a hose?  "Fish tank equipment", indeed!

I haven't found anything that works for me yet, since I haven't got around to making new guts for the STP-Fitz, if I'm in a men's room, I just use a stall, and sit if it's empty.  If it's not...things get very splashy.  :-(  I'd like to try the Peecock.

It's rare that I have any problems with the medicine spoons, I've been using them for a long time now. I'm hoping to find a good packer that doesn't give me any trouble but it looks like there's good and bad reviews to all of them (much like everything else in the world). But by "legitimate", I meant like a packer that was STP capable, sorry I should've specified :P

I bought a peecock last july.  It has it's pro's and cons but I'm generally happy with it with the thought of upgrading when I can afford it.  I prefer a harness to no harness.

It was important to me that my packer is an STP too.  It's taken practice but I only have the odd leak moment these days.  I've even gotten to the point where I can pull it out from the trouser leg to pee leaving the tab and harness hidden in my jocks for better passing.  Although because of the occassional leaks, I'm still nervous to use a public urinal.

The leakage problems are

wrong position
harness too small
hair to long
flow to hard and fast

all of which I'm getting better with practice.

I do see this one as a stepping stone to something better when it's available.  I almost like the sound of DJ's.

With packers though, do you have to sit there and fiddle with it to get it into the right position say if you're at a urinal, or does wearing the harness make it stay in place for the most part? I'm hoping I can eventually just know my body well enough to know exactly where to put it instead of have to figure it out every time I use it...

Can't believe I wrote that I can pull it out my trouser leg!!  I did mean the leg of my jocks.

The harness helps keep it in place fairly well.  I fiddled a fair bit at first but practice is giving good results.  This is my first STP device btw.
