I've been wearing girl's clothes for about 7 years and I've never been caught. I pretty much just make sure everything is clean, put everything back at the right places, and making look like it never happened.
Unless, you count doing it with a female friend as getting caught...
What do you do to prevent getting caught? Or are you kind of messy about it and don't care (it's a time bomb really...)
I'm not sure what you mean.
If you are wearing someone else's clothes that is quite unhygienic, particularly if you are wearing some one else's underwear. Buy your own is the correct option.
Cindy
Having your own clothes would also be my recommendation. Would certainly make it easier if secrecy is your goal. :-\
Beyond that Im not sure I understand the question. I don't get caught speeding, because I try not to speed past cops. Funny analogy though....seems to fit. It may be 20yrs down the road, but the odds are SOME day you will get caught.
It's a time bomb for sure. Even though I bought my own clothes and thought I was very careful I did end up getting caught...more than once. Once I started wearing panties every day it was hard to always remember to keep them separate from my male laundry. Anyway getting caught isn't necessarily the worst thing. In the end it's the best thing.

I do not care.
Last December, I happened to drink with my male friend in a restaurant. The hostess at her 50s greeted me with some surprise, shouting "you are so tall, looking taller than 170 cm." My friend replied "No. taller than 180 cm or even 190 cm with heels". She was so much curious of me, asking me several questions. After hearing my low voice, "Oh. You are a man!" I replied jokingly, "No. I am a woman." Then she sat next to me, touching the strip of my bra in the back. "Oh. I am sorry. You are a woman."
Since then, my friend has jokingly introduced me to others as "a woman in men's dress".

My solution was to just tell anyone who might see me about my need to dress enfemme. Many years ago my wife found cosmetics and female clothing among my things and assumed I had a girlfriend. So then I dressed and showed her. She enjoyed it and became very supportive. If I tell someone and the person can't accept it then I don't need the friendship anyway.
I do not care.
Best way to go. You can't 'get caught' doing something everyone knows about.
Wow, this thread conjures up all sorts of memories and feelings. As a kid I got good at not getting caught by being meticulous. I could memorize the placement of moms things and put them back so she wouldn't know. The only times I nearly got caught were because something happened to interrupt my grand scheme. Generally someone coming over when I was expecting to be home alone for a given block of time. But always constant was the sense of guilt. I realize now the guilt wasn't because I was dressing up like a girl, but because I was sneaking around.
If you can at all get your own things that lessens the guilt and the chance of getting caught. That's not always feasible when we are young CD's though.
Though my wife knows, encourages, and supports my dressing I still run the risk of getting caught. It frustrates me immensely. My sister in law lives with us so I have to dress around her work schedule. As an adult who accepts and embraces my dressing habits and desires it is tough to have to play in that mental space of worrying about getting caught. Hopefully she can move soon, but we have had her with us for 3 years so far.

Isn't it time she met you? You never know, she will either accept you or move out. Win, Win situation!

I have had thoughts very much along those lines. I have discussed sharing this secret, with the sister, a few times with my wife. My wife fears her reaction, more than I do. Like you I see either outcome as a win, win. But my wife loves me deeply and with that comes the mama bear protection. She is afraid her sister will think less of me. I'm not convinced that is the case, but I don't want to upset my wife either. And then there is the "I'm moving soon" scenarios where she's lined up a place but things fall through. I think why rock the boat if she is moving out soon. Right now we are in a I'm moving soon phase.
But yes, if she is going to live with us much longer she needs to meet the real me. More for my sanity than anything. My home is supposed to be my refuge and safe place, and it hasn't been for over three years. All the resentment I feel is purely been due to not being able to be myself. I really enjoy being myself.
I understand completely, Cindy was hidden for a long time. One day I invited the whole family both sister in laws and brother in laws around for dinner. I told them to expect surprise but didn't say what. I met them at the door, One just said I was gorgeous, the other said she had known for years, and the guys didn't care as long as there was beer. My wife was there as well.
That started me going FT, which I am just about. It has been a lot easier than I expected.

Hi Everybody,
This is easy, I have my own clothes and because I am a closeted cross dresser I have my hiding place. I honestly wish I could come out but my wife is not very understanding. Anyhow for sure buy your own clothes.
Hugs,
Jean
I was carefull to not let my daughter and son see my girl clothes but then one day i was caught, so to speak, but they told me they have known since long time ago, so i have no need to hide any longer. / so answer would be: get caugt and live happy ever after. :D
my 2 cents.

I used to "borrow" my mother's clothes all the time. Then her taste got awful, and I put on some weight.
Let me see here... My mother ignores anything that displeases her, my dad will never change his opinion of me as some abomination, freak, or whatever, society will always frown upon me... yet, I do not give a damn! I would much rather be myself than some mirror image of everyone else they push me to be.
Anyone who is a real friend will care about you, whether you have a leather harness, a Gothic Lolita dress or nothing on you.

Ok, i wish i had that strenght. Thank You i might follow you some day...
JSong.
I knew that i would inevitably do something that would get me caught so i just went ahead and came out to my wife. Since then i have inadvertently left items lying around and my wife has had to put them away. She chides me when i do that LOL.....
Im one of those that cannot expect a positive result if i get to reveal my secret, also im one of those that selfishly doesnt need to as long as i am happy the way is now, i prefer not to alterate the behavior of the people around me, and i enjoy my man life very much.
therefore to be caught is scenario in my life that has to be avoided in its 100% if possible, i know about the risks but is better to be caoutios than to explain and change your life for worse.
I used to have my stuff in the trunk of my car in a lugage with alock safe, then i saw my stuf was growing in volume and pair of shoes were getting damaged, so i rented a storage unit where i have everything oranized, then i had to move out and stay without gear for a year or so, so i had to readquire again, and my stuff rested in the offcie, then i build up a big wardrobe so i had to use another way, i found this place for crossdressers, is a photo studio and also a meeting club for cd, they have storing service and since then i have all my gear there, so when i want to dress i just go there and get dress, or go there pick up a change go to a local hotel and dress in private, then lately i get to a very centric hotel dress and go out in public day time and night time, is the best adventure.
I did this maybe 6 times already, is an amazing feeling.
then in my pc i try to remove all history in the brwoser and erase any evidence of sites of cd email account, anything...
anyway is a constant worry but in my case is necesary.
so if you are like me just think never settle a hidden place inside your home sooner or later it will be discovered.
Use another place, a friends or a storage unit.

You have the strength, you have the courage. You just need to plan the time when it is comfortable for you. But once you let the girl go public there is no going back. And there is no wanting to go back.

I've been a crossdresser all my life and really crap at hiding my tracks too! Used to dress up in my sister's, then my mum's clothes. Took really bad risks. I would try my sister's dresses on why my mum was downstairs and once nearly got caught - was really really lucky and I'm sure she wondered what I was up to in my sister's room looking shocked and flustered and with one of my sister's dresses just flung on the floor near me! Or maybe she knew....
After leaving home I didn't crossdress for years except when i had an easy opportunity. It was only when I hit mid 20s and during my first marriage that it started to creep back into my life.
I was really sloppy though - did try on some of my first wife's clothes when she was out but it stressed me out so bad I tried not to do it. Worried that I didn't put them back exactly as they were, or that I would accidentally rip or damage the clothes while i was wearing them. I did own some of my own clothes but had to throw them out when i got married.
Then she left me (nothing to do with me crossdressing) and left most of her wardrobe behind - result!! I dressed loads and got on the internet, which was new then, and started buying my own clothes too. so when she took her clothes away (I kept them laundered) I had my own. I got seen in a skirt by the neighbours just before I moved out and sold the house! Have no idea what they thought about it.
I made sure my second wife knew before we started going out so getting caught was not so much of a problem. Though she had a daughter so my opportunities were still limited.
Started going out dressed for first time - and obviously got seen by quite a few people on the street. Can't remember many of them being all that bothered - i didn't have any problems. no-one I knew saw me - i was really careful to not let my neighbours see me - the parents of kids who would play with my kid!
Eventually I was going out in the day - after splitting from wife number 2 (again nothing to do with the crossdressing) and wearing some make- up, long hair, think I mostly passed so didn't really have any problems.
Now I rent a room in a house with another guy - a friend - and he doesn't know i crossdress at all. so slipping in and out of the house is difficult - so far I've got away with it for three years and he never looks in my room which os filled with dresses! Can't imagine the shocked look on his face if he ever did see my wardrobe ...
Luckily I have central London to walk around in and no-one cares what you wear there!
I think the key to not getting caught is to be as open about it as you can. Getting caught by a loved one is difficult, but if you get caught by your neighbours you just have to brazen it out - this is after all the 21st century!!!
I think that eventually we all get caught because deep down we want to come out. In my case a very close female relative confronted me one day, in a nice way and asked me straight out. I knew then that she knew so I confirmed it. I asked what gave me away and she gave me all the small details that she said only a woman would pick up on. Plus she said if I had denied it very strongly by reacting in a sort of violent manner which is what she would have expected as that is how her husband would have reacted I may have convinced her that she was wrong. I told her that I felt relieved to be finally able to share my secret that I had carried for some 40 years. This was in early December 2011. Closer to Christmas she asked me what female clothes could she get me as a present and reminded me that if I ever bought anything that was not right and needed exchanging and I was too embarrassed to do it she would do it for me. As the months have now passed she has borrowed my nail polish and nail polish remover when she ran out, a lipstick I hadn't used as yet because she loved the colour and a top. She has also confirmed that my hiding place for my clothes is good.
Nowadays some of my colleagues jokingly introduce me to people as "a woman trying to behave like a man". When mixing with all kinds of people, it is impossible to hide anything. I should be satisifed with the status quo, and no more.

Best thing to do is tell the truth.
I never want to be caught, so I told only truth for every my girlfriend. Most of them understood me, but many my friends have problem with their women
Lately the method i am trying to use is , renting a small room ministorage room in a facility that i can safely keep my inventory and stop worrying if i had to reorganize it and keep it wrapped into a suitcase or a hide.
the dressing room i build is perfect for not getting caught and be able to keep stuff as much as you want.
the problem is that i have as always plan the dressing session and acording to the hours of operation of the facility.
another challenge is that, the items are not in a ac environment so i have to be carefull to keep them well stored after i leave,
if i go out if possible i wear everything all of a sudden and go to my car enfemme or if there are people around i just put on all my underware and over it my normal clothes, once in the car i change completely and apply makeup etc, driving and going out as a girl anywhere.
I've been hiding it for 21 years (knock on wood)! Initially when I started I had great hiding places. So good that some of them were even inconvenient for me to access. But over the years as my collection has grown, I now have stuff hidden in not so great places, such as in a shoe box under my bed. The risk has gone way up, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of anything.
And over the years I've certainly had near misses where I came within a split second of getting caught while dressed. So far luck has always been on my side. But in a way I wish I had been caught many years ago. Who knows, if everyone was supportive then, I may not still be living a lie right now.
Well, I currently live with my parents and have plans to move out soon. Obviously, I'm not going crazy and buying anything now since I only recently came out to my online friends and one of my sisters and I still have other hobbies. I imagine, like others here, I wouldn't care too much but it's still something I'd likely do in private, so the only worry is where in my room to hide my stuff.
It's simple..... I don't crossdress.... :D I've only cross-dressed twice.... as much as I'd love to do it again, I don't think I should, It's too risky at the moment.
