Title: NHS Referrals
Post by: Princess of Hearts on January 19, 2012, 05:20:32 PM
I have made an appointment with my GP to ask her for a referral to a gender therapist.     How long do you think that I will have to wait for that first appointment and will it cost money?

If it's an NHS referral it should be free. You'd best ask your GP to find out how long it may take to get an appointment, though. It all depends on where you live, who's available etc.

I have been suffering from depression and anxiety induced insomnia for almost two weeks now.    I think that I am suffering from clinical depression and have been for at least 12 - 15 years.     So, there is a  huge backlog of issues to work through.

When nobody ever sees you as you are that must and does inflict a terrible toll.   My depression/anxiety gets triggered in situations where |I am away from home for many hours with strangers and have to act the part of a male.   This raging depression, and these anxiety attacks have been a blessing in heavy disguise.   They have pushed me to the point where \I either transition or die.

I live in the Glasgow area of Scotland so I doubt that I shall be travelling to London.

Well I saw my GP today and it was something of a let down.   Here they don't do 'referrals' to Gender identity counsellors.   I have to look up online and get in touch with something called 'the Sandiford(sp?) Initiative'.

We have a H&B here in my town, I go in often I am not a fan or phyto-oestrogens however.   I have my own 'illegal'* oestrogen pills which I shall continue to take.   My depression is better though and I am sleeping a bit better.

* Illegal in the sense of unprescribed.

I've been to their website and it looks good. :)

However, I notice that they operate the 'real-life' test for 3 months before prescribing hormones.    ???
