I heard somewhere that depression causes higher estrogen production, is this true? Might there actually be a bit of light, a plus after suffering or going through depression?
Now that will be a bonus if it is so!! It means I can stop taking my anti-depressants and save a LOT of money.
It will be interesting to see whether anyone can shed some light on this.
Well taking high doses of estrogen will cause depression so idk lol.
O...okay. Source?
Fat produces estrogen. Better start eating. ::)
never heard of that nor is there any evidence that I can see... can you show otherwise?
I don't remeber where actually but i think i read it in one of the forums here. something about while your depressed your body produces more estrogen. i should have saved it. but I don't know. I am really interested though.

It's an understood thing for some doctors that anti-depressants diminish estrogen efficacy - seemingly by hogging E receptors.
This is a kind of 'inverted' situation/scenario to what the OP was asking - never the less interesting to take note of.
Ask you Endo or GP he
might just know too...

I believe taking high doses of estrogen will make a woman
more likely to have depression, but, keep a smile on your face and that estrogen will still produce and you will feel great!

If you depressed you may eat more, get fat, and so that fat will produce more E for the body.
That is a known fact that e.g. obese males produce much more E then e.g. non-obese males.
Also, if women have a hysterectomy and do not go on HRT they get fat. The bodies way to create an alternate source of E.
Now go Google it and you will find it confirmed.
Next, I have a tg friend that is 1 1/2 years post-op and is very sloppy with her HRT (didn't take any for long periods of time) - she's getting pretty fat these days also.
As always - VMMY - as we ALL different...

I dont think depression and homones are that deeply conected.
maybe homones changes alittle in the part, but to be honest, I belive it life in general who makes us depressing or non depressing, and not the homones.
Transgender people have alot to deal with, and even when we stop dealing with those, we still got the momories, and it can be hard to find peace in those.

Actually I think this is one of those Chinese whispers things. I think it's the other way round- ie . Low testosterone levels causes depression (fact). It then makes sense to say 'higher estrogen from depression' -- since both are seen as opposites.
Just my 2 cents worth.
