so am i the only one who has made a concious effort to sit to pee, or is everyone else thinking on the same lines?
idk, it just feels better anyway, its not as uncomfortable
no you aren't the only one and sorry to burst your bubbles! :P
-bubbles are bursted now-
lol, cool, so im not totally out of this world
Yeah I abandoned the stand to pee about the time I started to come out to people (which was september or so)...it was totally a conscious thing then but after a while I got pretty darn used to it and now when my mind grazes back over to the idea of standing...OMG just the idea feels awkward!
Cheers: Patty
im starting to get that way myself
I never did, until I started transitioning, read on here that others were doing it, and figured, "well, I might as well get used to it..."
It also solves an annoying aiming problem of mine (ewwww! I know)...
It's just routine habit now, even when waking up at 3am (oh I DO so love spiro).
Kate
I always sit, not a conshus desion, just do. OMG is it possable to pee standing, i had no idea.
Not that I would ever consider standing, but just think how it would look if someone saw you facing the wrong direction in the women's restroom.
Sarah L.
Have been sitting for some time now. I can't find enough of it to do it standing. I have to sit. The little worm is in hidding.
Deb
Sitting to pee is a very good idea especially if you're in a women's bathroom. Not only don't you want to be seen with your feet pointing the wrong way but if you forget to put the seat back down you'll have some explaining to do.
Hmmm.... I've been told if it walks like a duck,
quacks like a duck it must be a duck so.....
If a frog wants to be a duck
all it has to do is walk like a duck,
quack like a duck and.....sit to pee.
LOL
January 27th, 2006 was
the last day I stood to pee.
I must say though,it has not been
all that covienient at times.
Like when the urge hits me, all of a sudden,
I must now find a restroom.
Whereas before I could jump out of the truck,
run around to the shoulder of the road
and take care of business.
I am not at all into squatting and
exposing my backside for public view.
I am quite embarrassed to say I do now know
how embarrassing it is to not be able to make it
to the next rest stop.
If I remain in trucking
I am going to invest in a port-a-pot
for the truck.
Always Love,
Heather Rose.
Well, the last time I stood to pee was a week after I went fulltime on this camping trip and the restroom stunk bad and there were poo smears on the seat (unisex restroom, so it must have been done by a man), so I made an exception to stand so I could get out of there ASAP. The girl I was with decided to try and hold it. I hope she didn't have a UTI. Before that I think it was sometime in early 2006, but I can't remember for sure.
Melissa
Do I have anyother choice? ;)
Even when I did, I'd always sit!
tink :icon_chick:
Spiro does have that tendency doesn't it Kate. :D Jolene.
hehe, does spiro make everything go all shrinkie

One of the things that got me thinking i was meant to be a girl, was that ever sense i could remember (except on a few occasions) i always sat to pee. i hated to stand up. It didn't feel natural to me.
the only times i stand really is out of sheer need
Here's an add-on question...how many of you use toilet paper instead of the 'ole shake-it-up method? I mean its kinda crucial to passing in a women's washroom I think but do you do it when in the privacy of a one stall bathroom (such as home for instance)?
Cheers: Patty
cant say i have ever done that....hmmmmm
I've been sitting for as long as I remember, however I don't use toilet paper I just wring mine out ! ;D
Jamie L
My ex used to ask me why I always sat to pee. I told her I was just being lazy. Obviously this was before I came out. I haven't stood to pee in probably 20 years or so.
Karen Lyn :icon_female:
very nice, i personally cant wait until it is physically impossible for me to stand
It's been a while since I stood and I don't miss it. Don't think I even could anymore, it'd be too much of a reminder. Besides, if being female is how we feel then why not live it as much as possible - especially during RLT. :)
i agree totally

Sorry to nitpick but that will never happen unless you completely lose the ability to stand. Women can stand up to pee if they so desire. My little sister did it that way when we were camping. Yes, I peeked. Awkward and messy, yes, impossible, no. On the other hand, I completely understand your sentiment.
My 2 cents
Karen Lyn :icon_female:
lol, you know what i meant
Yes and I agree completely. :)

Ofcorse I sit Duh... and on the tissue paper thing, yes I use tissue paper... and have sence before transition, cleaner that way.
this is true, and im eventually going to have to do it anyway.....might as well start right?
Well, let me put it this way, when you are on HRT (estrogen and spiro) for a number of years, things become diminute; therefore, the only choice you have is to sit; otherwise, "everything" goes all over the place.....ewwwwww!
tink :icon_chick:
Tink, you have now put a wonderfull mess of a picture in my head, thank you for the heads up though.
be careful please kate, spiro can cause your potasiam levels to become quite high, i went to my doctor feeling very fatuged they checked my blood and found my potasiam to be dangerously high. and at that point i stopped taking spiro for a time. also i was not aware that spiro can cause some very nasty heart problems which cant easily be cured if at all. it can cause you to devolep and arithmia in your heart which means your heart is in the wrong rithum. i now have to take digitalis for my heart and also a blood thiner to keep from having a stroke. so please be careful, i no longer take spiro i have since had and orchiectomy, best decision i ever made, no more nasty antiandrogens just estrofem, good luck transitioning terribeth
That's why it's good to have regular check-ups with labs. Everyone is different. The best bet is to ask your doctor. I'm on high doses of estrogen and spiro but get regular labs to watch how I'm doing. So far, my doctor is happy with my progress.

Hi:
I'm 9 months on hormones now and still work as a male but go as female much of the rest of the time. Myself, I still stand when I am at work or at home even though I have to admit it is getting harder to not get it al over my clothes. I definitely sit when using a ladies room though.
My 19 year old daughter usually sits to pee but when she uses most public bathrooms, specially ones less than immaculate, she pulls her Travelmate out of her purse and stands. I just can't wait until someone tries to "clock" her for being a man in a ladies room. Evidenced from having her feet pointing the wrong way.
Danielle
Since coming out to my wife, I just feel more natural to sit....and for some odd reason to use tp to wipe, even if it's a small dab. I'm not on hormones.....but I feel that any and every oportunity I can grab to make myself feel more feminine I clutch and hold onto for dear life!
That reminds me, umm TMI warning, LOL....
When I was a kid, mother tried to teach me to wipe the wrong way, i.e. back to front. It never took though, and I've always done it the right way just on my own volition.
Pre transition I rarely sat. Post transition I always sit. The only bad thing I have shrunk so much so that if I didn't push it down I would pee on the floor. Now with my new piercings I don't have to :)
Oh and yes I use TP when im done.........

Yuck! "the 'ole shake-it-up method"?
No, dear, can't say I ever liked the shake it method. I've used toilet paper for as long as I can remember, even if home, and standing. Ladies blot or wipe, not shake.
Bev
Definitely toilet paper.

I had to laugh; after the surgery in December 2006 I was told that I would have to sit in order to urinate, from now on.
I smiled, shook my head and said calmly, "It will not represent a change for me; I've been doing that for years, anyway."
I hated the 'maleness' of using a urinal and would only use such as a last resort [rarely].
i definitely understand that

Are you saying that there are people out there who actually
STAND and pee? How strange.
Next thing you know, they will invent a vertical toilet that people can stand in front of and pee into. :eusa_think:

And importantly too, there is definitively a different sound from the tinkle when you are standing up. :icon_ihearu:
Applying the old adage: "When in Rome, do as the Romans" I always stand in the Gents toilets* and sit in the Ladies.
LL&R
Maebh
* Even if once, due to a long queue at the
Mná (Ladies) and being in one of my impish mood, I used the
Fir (Gents) at a Disco while "en Femme". You should have seen their faces when I walked straight to a free urinal and lifted the front of my skirt :o Priceless! Within a few seconds I had the place all to myself
And fair play to them, later-on a couple of them, real gentlemen to the end, bought me drinks at the bar. :icon_drunk:
Way to funny
I sat to pee from going full time all the way through srs and after. With the exception that after SRS I just had to try and see what'd happen once in the privacy of my own bathroom (so I'd know what'd happen out in the woods and stuff, yup that's my "excuse" heehee), the result is I changed my pants (ok Melissa yes I was wearing clothes), cleaned the toilet, and mopped the bathroom floor after my attempt, oh yeah lets not forget had to clean myself up too. I thought if I was leaned over far enough it'd still go straight and not make a mess, apparently one must squat in order not to make a mess.
