Well, I had my appointment with Doctor Lorne Warnake on January 27th. I got two documents. One saying I'm undergoing supervised transition with him and his staff, and the other allowing for me to get the gender marker on my license to be changed to M.
I've shown my mum it. She's... well, a little awkward about it still, but at least isn't angry anymore. She voiced her concern about future surgeries, and I told her that that's something for me to think about in the future. I told her that I've been referred to an endocrinologist and might be able to start estrogen blockers soon. She responded with the idea that they should wait until I'm ready and not a teenager so my hormones are levelled out. I explained that they don't just jump right in and give me hormones. They do blood work to check hormone levels, they basically research our bodies before administering anything. She then understood that they're very professional about it and backed off a bit.
So, there's that. I'm not living with my mum, but with her brother and his girlfriend. I'd put male on a form I had to fill out for school and my aunt sort of looked at it and said that I'm not. She's been really accepting with what I've told her so far, about binding, my social comfort of being seen as male, etc. I showed her the papers Dr. Warnake gave me and she was really cool about it. She asked how my mum and uncle thought about it. I told her that my uncle... has threatened me before, and she shook her head, saying that he won't be saying anything like that again because what he feels can't affect how I feel about my choices. She asked a couple of questions and told me that she'll support me fully. She said that she wants me to ask Dr. Warnake to refer me to someone when we move to BC this summer and I've already got it covered. So, in the end, I'm a very lucky guy.
Congratulations! I'm glad things are working out for you! It's always fantastic when you have good news and you just want to share it with the rest of the world! :) Susans is amazing. Allowing us to just be us and talk.
I really hope everything continues to go well for you! Remember, things can only get better
