Hi there. Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm from Australia, I'm 27 years old, I got diagnosed with GID back when I was 19 after about 8 years of being pretty sure I was trans. I kinda freaked out and didn't start medically transitioning until 2008, got my name changed a couple of years ago, have been employed in stealth mode for about a year, I've had a bit of cosmetic surgery to make life easier and I'm getting everything in order to head over to Thailand, within the next 6 months for genital reconfiguration surgery. :D
I make software for a living and sometimes work on cars for fun when I have the time - a hobby I only found after starting transition, oddly enough. I like reading, photography, road trips and hiking. I'm quite politically aware and although I tend not to form my personal identity around that sort of stuff, I have a pretty low tolerance for close minded or hetero/cis normative attitudes. I'm in a long term happy live-in monogamous relationship with my girlfriend.
I pretty much just came on here to research stuff for GRS. I socialise a bit within online trans communities, but less than I used to, I tend not to really pin much of my life on that part of myself.. I tend to find the more I immerse myself in online trans stuff the more different and "othered" I feel out in the real world. Since I got my HRT letters and diagnosis like 6 or so years before I properly started transitioning I've actually not had to deal with therapy or trans focused stuff during my medical and social transition, which has been quite liberating.. it's all been on my own terms despite all being handled by medical professionals.
So yeah... hi! :)
Hi Phoebe, welcome to Susan's,there's lots of info here.Hugs,Rachael.
Hi Phoebe,
Welcome from an Adelaide girl!
There's plenty of discussion here about the various surgeons and procedures if you dig around..
Hugs,
Kelly
Hi Phoebe, welcome aboard! You'll find plenty of information here. There's always someone around if you just want to talk. We offer it all! See you around, hugs, Devlyn
Hi Phoebe,
Another Aussie welcome to Susan's from Sydney. Or to be politically correct, the Central Coast. You have done a good job with your transition so far, by the sounds of it. As Kelly mentioned, there is a lot of info re surgeons here. I know a lot of girls in Sydney who have gone the Thailand route, with pretty good results. I myself have my heart set on the States, particularly with the way the dollar is going at the moment. Bit of a 2 horse race for me, between Drs. Marci Bowers and Christine McGinn. But each to their own I say.Hope you find what you are looking for here. If you don't, just ask. There is usually someone here 24/7. Enjoy your stay, and hope to hear more from you in the coming months. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy
Lotsa Huggs
Catherine
