Title: (For those on T) When did your "period" stop?
Post by: BMXJake on February 03, 2012, 06:40:21 PM
Hey Guys,

So the subject pretty much says it all. I've heard all sorts of things from different people, but I just wanted to know what your experiences were with getting it after starting T. Mostly like how soon before it stopped (or even started), if it comes back, etc. but I'm open to all kinds of information.

T day is end of the month! :]

Mine stopped earlier than most guys since I never had it once after starting testosterone.
Most guys say they usually continue their cycle 2-3 months after starting testosterone though and once it stops, it should not start again. If it did, it's likely because your dosing is no longer sufficient enough or your time between dosing is too long & you would want to consult your doctor about that.

I got my very first shot about a day before it was supposed to start, so I did have to suffer through a few short days of that, but I have not had it since, thankfully. :D

I got mine about 2 days after my first shot.  It's still early, so maybe I won't have another - maybe I will.

4 months on T is when it stopped. Or that's when I got my last period. I don't quite remember.

I started Reandron in Sept 2010.  Had a nasty in september, october, december, feb, april, july 2011.  Took 10 months to stop but nothing since for the last 6 months so I'm hoping it's gone for good.  It's the best result I've ever had.

I was on Sustonen for 10 years from 21 to 31 and the nasty never stopped completey.  It would turn up unexpectedly whenever it bloody chose to grrr.  Different people have different results with different types.  That's why an Endo is so important.

I started T at the beginning of April 2011, and my period was due 3 weeks after the first shot but it never came. So my period stopped immediately upon starting T. And it's been 10 months and it has never come back.

I started my last one the day after I took my first shot.  I think it depends on when your period usually comes (mine usually came around the first of the month) and when you have your first shot (I had mine on the second of the month).

I only ever had a period or two a year since I was 14. Sometimes less than that. However, when starting T it took about a week for me to HAVE ONE. After that, I haven't had anymore(this is my fourth month)... but as I said, I've had so few in my life that I don't really notice the difference. If I get it again, I'm gonna be pissed

I had heard that eventually a hysterectomy would be necessary to avoid getting the big C on T. Is that true?

I had my first shot a few days before I was expecting my period, a few days later I had a normal period, then the next month and every month after that, I haven't had ay periods.

also, I was put on a "full" dose, some doctors start guys off with a smaller dose, which may make periods, and changes slower.

It continued for 2 more months and then stopped temporarily - returning once at 6 months and once at 11 months. It's been about 17 months now and I haven't had it since then.

The reason it continued and recurred for a while was because my starting dose was very low compared to other people. The doc didn't want it to cause acne which I am prone to.

At four months mine became very very light, and then by the fifth month it had stopped completely.

I think it was somewhere between four and six months.

It was the fifth or sixth month. I should also point out that I started out on a low dose of T.

Until I was in my mid-twenties, I rarely had periods and they were light and brief when I did. Then they became heavy, painful, prolonged, and regular, with a lot of spotting on off days. Which lol is irrelevant I guess, but I'm very much looking forward to T working its magic on this one.

I'm two months on T and due for a period about now. Fingers crossed.

Getting cancer isn't guaranteed, but because there is insufficient information and studies pertaining to the long-term affects of T on the uterus, cervix, breasts and ovaries doctors encourage full hystos and oophos by the fourth year of HRT.
