Blake Lively and Transphobia at Elle

TransGriot Note: I had my say about Blake Lively's latest use of the t-slur, now it's Renee of Womanist Musings turn

I am starting to believe that Elle simply courts controversy in the hopes of selling magazines.  It engages in actions that are so clearly problematic, that I don't believe for one moment that they are not aware of what they are doing.

This month, Blake Lively appears on the cover of the magazine. Included with her cover, is of course a the obligatory cover article.  I would like to focus on a snippet of what Lively had to say regarding motherhood.

"I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be ->-bleeped-<-s. Because I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated." (source)

Where to even begin with this hot mess?

Blake, Stop Using The T-Slur

Blake Lively back in 2009 used the problematic T-word in a 2009 Allure magazine interview in which I wrote a post taking her to task for it at the time.

It's three years later, and obviously Miss Thang didn't get the message or learn from the recent experiences of Neil Patrick Harris, Kelly Osbourne or Lance Bass.

Lively did it again in another interview for the March issue of Elle magazine she's on the cover of.

Am I being 'under-sensitive' or it that really a case of ... just saying what you were thinking without considering all possible ramifications?

I do that at times - followed by the deemed appropriate and immediate punishment...
I decide not to have an issue with her. Also, it is VERY different from RuPaul's statement that if we do not want to be called ->-bleeped-<-s "... we can go ->-bleeped-<- ourselves..." Hello! That VERY surely got my hackles up.

She just makes a statement about herself – not telling anyone else what is good for them to do. And in any case she has no children - yet... may never have any.
Seems she is more into fashion accessories at this stage.

Give the girl a break, I say :-)

Perhaps the saddest aspect of the story is that some people actually care what addle-brained "celebrities" have to say.

One sexy, sporty IT girl and model, much favoured by mags of the likes as VOGUE and ELLE.

No idea the THAT rings a bell.

Strictly girl stuff --- she's no Mother Theresa, if that says anything :-)

We all know that Germans love a good parade.

But we lack the proper ambiance.  Perhaps the Preussischer Präsentiermarsch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGHCsEswMJk)
