awesome episode. almost as awesome was when they went back in time on DS9 to that specific episode and cut them in with actual footage. bashir and o'brien in the post-fight question line. epic.
I liked "Balance of Terror", where the Enterprise meets up with a Romulan Bird of Prey and a good ol' Type R enveloping plasma torpedo...100 points of damage, divided amongst 6 shields...a ship can survive the first one...the second torpedo removes what's left of the shields...third one kills.
Oops, sorry, I had a Star Fleet Battles flashback...but yeah, Balance of Terror. That, and when the Enterprise went back in time and captured a USAF pilot who tried to intercept the ship. I still remember when I first saw it, I wondered what show was on, because there was no hint of it being ST, just a klaxon and the scramble of the F-104...
Great show, the Original Series...even if it is a bit dated and corny by today's standards...
