"When I tell them that being called a transsexual feels like a personification of a diagnosis, and that I am not my diagnosis. The diagnosis is not my identification, it is a tool to correct what was wrong.
And I am surely not ashamed; I am not ashamed of being myself. And I am not afraid to tell my story. I just use the words that are right for me.
And I refuse to let people tell me that I am a transsexual, just because they say so, and they say it is just a fact. . I refuse to use trans* because it is not part of my identity. Not because I am ashamed. I am proud of what I have accomplished, I am proud of being me, I am proud of my history."
