Title: drug testing
Post by: jsorter on February 08, 2012, 05:27:48 PM
I'm applying for work and I have been wondering if they will do a pregnancy test on the urine I give them for a mandatory drug test? Does anybody know what the usual procedure is?

urinalysis is only for commonly abused substances, it might pick up testosterone (for the doods) but the usual trans women therapies will either not show up or be thrown out of results. (the job of the labs is finding abused/illegal drugs, not health screenings)

As a manager, I am trained in alcohol and drug abuse awareness and everything I have seen that companies test for would not see anything HRT related. It's just too expensive to test for and it's not something known to impair your performance or judgement on the job.

Not to mention I'd imagine that screening for estradiol levels, I think, would be against privacy regulations. Hormone levels are part of your health, and that is nobodies business but your own.

I passed an employer required drug test when I was on Spiro and Avodart.  Wasn't on E at that point.
