hello everyone! ;D
am better known as em to most people [and to others; those names will be banned under the no foul language rule].
am twenty seven, physicaly female since birth and live in cheshire in england.
amongst other stuff am severely classic autistic though mentaly high functioning, and live in a residential centre with children and adults on the severe or profound spectrums of autism.
have only just found out about androgyne and for self,it describes gender the best so far.
have not had any awareness or understanding of gender and its basic differences and rules until adulthood due to the autism,it is something they have always tried to teach about especialy here at home but it is a concept that am natively blind to.
some family and past support staff have been forceful-both physicaly and mentaly with girly clothing saying that a girl shoud wear girly clothing and am not a real female if do not stick to these rules, but who is society to tell someone they cant wear something or fit a gender they are most comfortable in purely because it doesnt fit the stereotypes?
if people want to say am male or ugly or gay because of looks, they are welcome to it,in all likelyhood they are probably using pyschological projection of themselves and they do not have any maturity to view with an open mind.
its amazing the amount of people who use ugly or gay or male as an insult and think am going to care.
have spent years trying to tell people am not gay because they judge from looks and also the fact have never had any feeling/interest etc whatsoever for love/a boyfriend,am fully asexual and always have been but very few people understand it because it is seen as caused by disorder like freud did with homosexuality and not as a sexuality.
hobbies/interests are linux, penetration testing [a form of hacking to help people make their websites securer], RDA horse riding, animals, starbucks, going for drives, art, animal photography, playing open arena on single player...
sorry for waffling on and hope this has not bored anyone to sleep, though for insomniacs perhaps thats a good thing.
Hi em,
A big Aussie welcome to Susan's. Hope you enjoy your stay, and your stay is long. After all, we are family here. I used to do work for the Autistic Centre in Sydney years ago, and quickly learnt how marginalised and misunderstood, Autism is. Hopefully with the advent and dissemination of personal media devices; iPads, tablets etc, will rapidly built communication bridges between us all.
You have come to the right place, to seek advice and probably give much. You will find many a friend here, as well as a lot of experience, from those that have travelled the road.
There no doubt will be a sway of Aussie passing soon that will give you a high 5, and Devlyn, who is just across the 'pond' from you will drop in and offer a big Bostonian welcome; if she can stop whistling at me.
Thank you for your introduction, don't hesitate to ask whatever you like, it's very safe here to lay your heart and desires out. Keep in touch and let us know how you are feeling. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
