Title: Medical tape to bind?
Post by: Inkwe Mupkins on February 18, 2012, 11:03:13 PM
I was wondering would it be possible to bind using medical tape. Could I tape each moob down without pain when the tape comes off?
I'm on the small/medium side so I could mush em down and it wouldn't restrict my breathing and i wouldnt have to wear so many layers.

What do you think: Would it be possible/safe to use medical tape to bind? Would it hurt when it comes time to remove the tape?

I've heard of some female cosplayers/crossplayers using medical tape to bind.  There's probably some trans guys that do it as well.  I personally wouldn't recommend it, especially not over a long period of time.  It might be okay for a couple hours every once in a while though.

If you're on the small/med side you might try a compression undershirt. I buy the cheap ($10) ones from Wal-mart that are one size to small. They help flatten without binding/restricting. Plus, its just a guys undershirt. They won't get you completely flat, but if you're small to start they might be sufficient to pass without binding or the complications that tape can lead to.

It's safer than duct tape, I can tell you that much. Be careful with your nipples and removing the tape though lol.

This guy uses it, skip to 4:34

Same concept, but use medical tape not that duct tape:

If you're roughly b-cup or less, masking and shipping tapes may work for you. I found that duct-tape tends to leave a residue that pulls hair and irritates skin at the edges. That can usually be avoided by placing a layer of shipping tape below the edgemost layers of duct tape. shipping tapes and masking tapes will come off painfully when wet or sweating\moving a lot, but will not leave such a residue. They also tend to ride up through daily wear, while duct tape adheres more evenly and lasts a bit longer. Medical tape may be too thin in width, while the tapes mentioned above are usually broader, and can therefore push more flesh without coming loose. Outside of removing it after a few hours and lazing about shirtless to let the adhesive and sweat dry, that's about it on my advice. Always use a square of toilet paper over the nipple, test the tape to see if it irritates you by fastening a piece to the inside of your arm for several hours before you decide on what you will use, and be ready to purchase your own rolls of tape or to have somebody bring them to you. Even if you only do it four days a week for about a month, you will run out of tape rather quickly.

If you're set on medical tape-- get the kind that DOESN'T stretch.

The ones that do will restrict every time you breathe and can cause injury and make you get sick.

It won't make you completely flat depending on your size-- but over all, I do suggest just investing in a binder.
