Hello, I'm Alyssa! I've been a long time lurker, and decided to register since I am so close to starting my journey.
I've known I was a girl since the age of four and started cross dressing at six. From then to now, I wasn't ready to start a transition even though I really wanted to during high school. Came out to my mom during that time and she brought up religion and 'examples of my manliness' from things I did as a child that my sister's didn't. Anywho, stuffed my confidence in transitioning after that for a few years. After I turned 21 I've really had the drive to transition.
I came out to one of my sisters last year and my friend this year. Both are accepting and supportive. Gossip spread from one sister to another, so I don't really need to come out to the other sister, lol. I'll come out again to my mom, just not until I am able to move out. Other than that, I don't really care who knows I'm trans or identify as female. I've lived with it for so long that it's not that big of a issue to me. If they have any problem with it, then well.. who cares? Doesn't effect me!
Can't really think of anything else to add to an intro post, so I'll leave it at that! :p

Ok, since I'm from TN I'll be the first to welcome you.
Glad to see you are accepting your transness and it doesn't cause you problems. Even though TN has some really hideously anti-trans lawmakers, I've been surprised at how overall accepting my friends have been.

Its great that your sister and friend have been supportive! To most, the first step can often be the most daunting but with the solid foundation of people who you know and trust i'm sure it'll go much more smoothly! You seem to be on top of things and looking at the whole journey in a positive frame of mind - which is wonderful! Are you on HRT yet or planning to?

I'm very fortunate (and surprised!) to find the acceptance I have found myself with considering I almost fell into the bigotry trap from not talking to people. Even in high school I was surrounded by my younger sis and our friends who would've been supportive if only I had spoke out. But no, I was reclusive with my feelings and felt lost and isolated. Very bad path I could have taken, one no one should walk down. Luckily I missed a step and found myself going the other way! ;)

I'm not on HRT yet. Haven't even started electro/laser hair removal. Been stuck at a mediocre job last few years with no way to save money. Ha! Coming out to my friend was sooooo nerve wracking! Took me two weeks to speak up and tell him, so I finally just treated it like a band-ade and told him I was transgendered. Shocked him good, but quick to accept.

:) Deciding who to tell and their reaction to such a life-altering and personal thing always revealss your (and your friend's) deepest emotions towards a person. Seeing how he was quick to accept shows what a decent guy he is and how much of a good friend he is towards you. I've got a close group of 4 or 5 friends, not to mention two brothers the same age as me, and I get nervous even thinking of telling them! :laugh: I'm planning on the coward's route though - after being on hormones for several months, burgeoning breasts and more feminine mannerisms i'm
hoping that they'll put two and two together!

This is truly an international family you have chosen to join. So if you are ever up late at night, can't sleep, there is sure to be always some home here, with a willing ear to listen and be there for you. Even when all your local support team are all cosily wrapped up, getting their beauty sleep.
It's just so wonderful to hear you are progressing well along your journey, and you haven't been too disheartened by your lack of support from home. Denial is one of the biggest killers in this community, and it's good to see it no longer has a home in you. I commend you for your openness. It will be your salvation.
