Title: Androgynous Formal Clothing
Post by: possiblycharlie on February 22, 2012, 02:30:44 PM
I'm FAAB and curvy. Any tips on how to look professional and gender-neutral at a job interview? A nice dark men's suit seems the easy answer, but how to make it fit nicely...

Alternatively, is it best to go "en femme" to an interview? That feels vaguely dishonest to myself, but... is it wiser?

Men's suits can be tailored to fit. The best looking cuts are getting more feminine lately.
I used to look for shirts and such with that style, only could find them in the women's dept.
Now there are more men's style clothes with less feminine cut to them in the women's dept.
The clothing industry seems to be catering somewhat to the androgynous fashions in business clothes.

If you can pull off an androgynous look and still look deadly serious on getting the job, go for it.
Irregardless, go for what makes you look the best, without compromising who you are.
Honesty when recognized goes a long ways in getting a foot in the door.

If you can afford to, or just want to get some really good ideas, go to the high end stores and find a salesperson who understands what you are trying to achieve. Try on some different styles and ask opinions when you can. Its all in how the cut works with your shape.

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding androgynous formal clothing for MAABs?
