Title: Hi, I'm John
Post by: Johnv on March 17, 2012, 07:00:39 PM
I live in Northern California. Its hard to write something interesting about myself, since it only takes a few moments of perusing the forums here to make me feel really boring.  I am just an old guy.  I've been coming to Susan's Place off and on for years mostly because the people were  nice. I also have what would be about as serious an issue as an itch compared to a triple-bypass when put next to the those faced by many in this community.  I am not as masculine a man as I wished I was, or is average I guess.  Since we only get to occupy a single body, and live a single life, my issue seems as relevant to me as the chances of a third great war. I hope that it is reasonable to come here to learn.

I have noticed that gender identity has gotten very esoteric.  I recently had to Wiki "cissexual." I was surprised that as close as I can determine I am one.  I hope that my clumsiness with words never offends anyone.

Hi John,
And a very warm Aussie welcome to Susan's family. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.

And as you mentioned, your 'itch' is just as important to us and yourself, as is the triple bypass. We are all at some point in time and space in this continuum of gender. Each very unique and gloriously individual. And that in no way should detract from who you really are, how you are going about getting there and what your expectations are.

You are more than welcome to come here and learn. The resources here are second to none. And I have an inkling you are not as 'boring' as you think you are. I'd be interested in hearing more about you in time to come. But in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi there, John,

Not so boring, here you have me googling cissexual :)

Best,

If "cis' means within the same group, and "trans" across the group -as in chemistry. and if the genitals are defining the "....sexual" term as a congruency, then it follows that all heterosexuals are "transexuals," and all homosexuals are "cisexuals."

The congruency is within ones self though, not as an attraction to others.

Very good !!! Then, by your definition, that leaves me as human female homosexual, no need to invoke "cis this" or "trans that'

I definitely opened a google tab to google cissexual also!

I feel I am pretty boring (most people would not agree) and am old man at heart!

Using forums to learn is a great thing, but posting is good too!  ;D

Thanks to  everyone for the welcoming responses.

I didn't spend as much time pondering the meaning of cissexual as you obviously did. I read over it and found a sentence that seemed to indicate that a cissexual was a person whose chosen sexual identity matched their genitalia. I was not sure why we needed another way to identify a straight person. I am not at all sensitive about such matters, and so to check out my understanding, I posted that I was coming out as a cissexual on my status on Facebook.  Either I am correct, or my family was not up to the task of deciphering the Wiki page and are watching me closely to figure out what cissexuals do.
