In regards to top surgery how do you feel about the possibility of losing erotic nipple sensation no matter what the surgery type is. Do you care if you lose it? Does it suck that you may lose it but don't mind? Would you avoid top surgery just to know that you will have the sensation? Post-op guys feel free to share your personal opinions about it.
I thought about it some and at first it sucked knowing that I will probably lose sensation but then I realized that I never had it in the first place. My nipples really don't get hard when aroused. There may be a tingly feeling but I can live without that. They pretty much just feel like extra skin to me only a little bit more sensitive.
How about you guys?
I'm pre-op and I did have a bit of a worry about sensitivity, but i hate my nipples being touched - and not in a dysphoria way, and they feel about the same as my arm, just skin, so not too worried, though it would be nice just to have I think
If they don't sever the nipple stalk, which most peri and keyhole doesn't, and there is a way to do it DI without severing the stalk, then you most likely won't lose sensation.
I don't care if I lose sensation. I also don't even have any erotic sensation in them in the first place, and it is disgusting to me to touch my chest in that sort of way.
However, on YouTube uppercasechase1 is worried about getting top surgery for that very reason. Watching one of his videos on that topic was what first brought to my mind that losing sensation could be a worry for someone.
Not very.
I've already lost a good amount of sensation in them from binding anyway.

I saw the video last week and I felt for the guy so much with sensation and the fact that he wouldn't have any boobs to grab. It kind of seems like he wants the surgery so he wouldn't have to worry about the possible long term ramifications of binding and I can't blame him.
.
I've pretty much lost all nipple sensation. I had DI with Garramone last June. Sometimes I miss it, but I'm just glad to have a flat chest finally.
What's weird is that while my nipples don't actually react to cold temperatures, the skin around them do. It's an incredibly odd feeling.
Nipple sensation doesn't matter much to me. Much less important than just getting the surgery done. Though recently I've started to think more about nipple sensation, for some reason, and that it would be nice to experience it without the dysphoria that comes with it now. But as I said above, it really doesn't matter at all to me when compared with actually getting the surgery done.
I know that it's likely that with my chest size and how much extra skin I have, it would be unlikely for me to maintain the amount of sensation I currently have. I'm currently choosing not to get top surgery, nipple sensation is one of the many reasons why I won't be getting it.
Other reasons:
cost
scars
not that much chest dysphoria since T (but more dysphoria with my hips)
nipple sensation
taking time off of work (because I would need a job first)
scared of surgery (never had any, including pulled teeth)
T-rex arms for a week or two
post-op pain
dog earring
Nipple sensation is very important to me. Mine are really sensitive and I get a lot of pleasure from having them touched. It's made me hesitant to have the surgery done, and I had to do a lot of thinking about it, but I would have had at least a reduction done either way, and the technique is roughly similar. My surgeon (Dr. Steinwald in Lake Forest, IL) uses what's called the inferior pedicle technique, I believe, and it doesn't sever the nerves attached to the nipple the way a free graft does. It's one of the main reasons I chose him, the other one being that he's only a half-hour drive away from where I live.
I'll try to remember to check back in a couple months and let you know how the sensation turned out. Dr. Steinwald told me that most of his patients rate their post-op sensation at a 3 or 4 out of 5.
I really only feel my nipples when i bind so i don't care as long as they look decent.
I don't think I really care how much feeling I have after surgery, at least the mounds will be gone. From my understanding most guys have little real feeling in their, similar to any other skin. This is what two guys have told me.
I don't have any good sensation now, so I don't really care about that. As long as my chest is masculine and heals fine, I'll be cool.

I think that it depends on the individual. Some AFAB people have sensation, some don't. Same with AMAB people from what I've heard.
For me, i do worry a little, seeing as i take great pleasure in being touched there but.. i'd rather have top surgery than not.
I cared for my nippel sensation since Its something who is used to get me turned on pretty much..
on the other hand my cheast also the thing who have made me hide the most.
I currently have lost my nippelsensation but I got told I will get it back in some years, however it might not come fully back,
I been pretty sad about losing it even when I been used to get stimulated diffrently now, but on the other hand I feel very free to just take off my shirt and be naked with someone, and all those things, just simple everyday stuff like going out with a tshirt in the sun where hell before top surgery.
--
of corse its people own choice, how important sexual fellings is for people is depended on the person, for me my sexual sensations are pretty important, but I do put my everyday life over sex and my cheast have really been bothered me extremly so I even got lung problems, and I been willing to risk the sensation for a more free way of living and then as it said it would likely come back later, i got keyhole and I can already feel my nipple very lightly even after some months I know not everyone is so lucky, but if I had to lose my whole sensation I would still have done it.
=)
It'd suck to lose it, but well worth the trade.
It wasn't on my risk register when I decided I wanted surgery, nor is it something I remotely care about now with 7 weeks to go!! I have never liked my chest being touched, to me they're just there, like fingernails...
I didn't care before surgery, that area of me was not to be touched. Now I think it would be nice if my nipples had feeling but it doesn't bother me that they don't.
I don't care about nipple sensation. I just want a flat chest.
I don't like the feeling anyways so it would be a plus more then anything lol
Nipple sensation has no importance whatsoever to me. I don't think I really have any sensation that's much different than anywhere else my body.
I've always had erotic sensation and I've always thought it was great, but I've already lost some due to binding. I also find myself very annoyed with the sensation if it's cause by non-sexual things (like if my binder is off and I brush against something). It's actually highly irritating in those situations.
Aside from that, I think it's a fair trade to lose sensation for surgery if it comes to that. I'm not worried about it though because I'll be doing something similar to keyhole. All I hope for is a good areola size and it'd be nice to lose some, but not all sensation.
They were way too sensitive before surgery, I'm glad to have lost some of the sensation.
Not at all. It's only guys that like to play with girl's nipples and I'm not a girl so don't treat me like one. :P LOL

*is a female who likes to play with guys' nipples*
Not at all important. Had top surgery and don't miss a thing. I never had erotic nipple sensation in the first place though, so I don't feel like I lost anything in the process.

There are plenty of women out there who like to play with guy's nipples.
Thanks for all the input so far guys. I honestly thought that I was a rare case for not having nipple senation. Glad to see I'm not alone in that.

I think I might be a rare case you know because all it does to me is tickle...like really tickle. I burst out laughing once, it didnt go down well.
I mean I knew I was really ticklish because I even am behind my ears but that just brought it to a whole new dimension.
I'm so unattached to my nipples that when I get top surgery I'm considering asking them not to reattach the nipples at all, and then just getting them tattooed on.
I'm actually hoping for it, honestly. If something brushes against my nipple or my clothes move the wrong way, it actually makes me feel like I'm going to vomit, so I'd be more than happy to have that permanently gone.
i would like to keep erotic sensation but i dont really care and it wont effect my top surgery decisions.

Jeh--This is what I did. I was VERY VERY anxious when thinking about surgery about the nipple grafts & the healing process that goes along with that...plus the high probability that I would lose a lot or all of my nip sensation anyway.... I asked my surgeon not to reattach my nipples. My nips are tattoos. If you want to see better (close up) pics, let me know.
cheers

I know guys who like having
their nipples played with. You have an example here of someone who likes playing with other guys' nipples. It really isn't a specific gender thing. I mean I myself am a guy who enjoys the erotic sensation my nipples have, given the right situation.
Just sayin'.

I'd be interested, if you would be willing to pm me a pic or something. I've never seen someone with tattooed on nipples, but I have seen a guy who got no nipple grafts and then a few months after surgery got nipples put in with no areola.
Andy--sending you a PM!
i don't care at all. nipples weird me out. even other peoples. id just not get nipples put back on if it wouldnt cause weird looks lol
Screw my nipples. I want those things removed with the rest of the tissue. I'm completely asexual, hate the feeling (sensory issues caused by autism), and don't especially like how they look.
It doesn't bother me at all; the thought doesn't even cross my mind. I'm like you, I'm not sure it was even there to begin with.
