There's *always* hope. Many of the members here, me included, are over 6' tall. And many of them have transitioned and are doing just fine.

Balding is quite fixable. Depending on how much you've lost, HRT will most likely bring some (no miracles, but some) back. Hair transplant technology can also work wonders these days. And many people simply use a wig or partial hairpiece if need be, which if fitted properly can be perfectly natural looking. A doctor may also prescribe you finasteride (Propecia here in the US) to prevent further hair loss. And there's always topical minoxidil (Rogaine) to fight it as well.

Features tend to soften with HRT. One of the girls in my support group started with very rugged, masculine features. After four years of HRT, she's become very soft and pretty... and at age 46 or so. If all else fails, there's always FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery) - very expensive, but it can do miracles.

The best thing to do, usually, is find a therapist experienced in treating GID. They can help you figure out what you need, as well as being necessary in order to obtain HRT and SRS - should you decide to go that route.

Never give up hope Karen.

Never.

Quotei'm too masculine

-- compared to whom? There will always be women out there more feminine than you, and less femme than you. Quit comparing yourself to just one type of woman, and you will soon see that there is no "typical" woman.

Quoteie. rugged features,

Pre-HRT correct?  Who knows what the hell you'd look like after starting HRT?  Actually, I have found that some of the women that I have met, that transitioned, that I find the most attractive, actually had very angular features before starting HRT. Case in point? Kate Bornstein looked pretty darn masculine to me in some of her photo's. But I've hung out with her in person, and she has really pretty features -- very photogenic.

Quotebroad shoulders,

Once again, define broad?  Many active women have well-developed shoulders. Lots of models have shoulders that destroy the shoulder/hip/waist ratio theory. Plus, once again, who knows how much muscle mass you will lose on HRT?

Quote6ft tall

Tall women do get noticed more, I know. But you also have the advantage of carrying lots more weight than shorter women without looking dumpy. I go 200+, and I wear a size 12 to 14.
So, I never look plump. Plus, most men, and plenty of women desire taller women. I also know about that. Sure people are going to stare at you if you are taller than average -- get used to it. But maybe, they will be staring at you because they will be attracted to you?

Quoteand to top it all i'm balding !

That's why they make wigs.  You think you are the only woman that is losing hair?  LOL.
Many women as they age have thinning hair. Like my poor sister. Plus, she has fine hair, so she has to be very careful about the style she wears.

It sounds to me like you are making excuses. maybe you don't really wanna do the transition thang. Nothing wrong with that. The world will do fine with one less woman.

QuoteIs there hope for me ?

Hope for what? To be the ideal woman? The ideal barbie doll?  Maybe?  But that is not why people are supposed to transition. They are supposed to transition if  they need to feminize or masculinize their body to feel comfortable. There are no guarantees as to how that will turn out. Ask any woman if she is "happy" with her body, her shape, her form. LOL.  I know of almost no women that fall into the happy or satisfied categories, including myself.

get thee to a therapist that specializes in this transtion thang.

You look pretty Karen Lyn.  I don't have pickies from before.  I threw them all away in the garbage can.  Only baby pickies, lol

Thank you, Yvonne. All the women in my family age well. Most people never guess I'm over 50.

KarenB,

Use your easy out.  Don't do this. It will turn your life upside down.

Sometimes life needs to be turned upside-down. Mine certainly was, but I don't regret it a bit.
Karen B - You have to work it out for yourself. You have to ask yourself how import is it to you?

Only if you can no longer live as a guy, and you are willing to move from a role where however painful it may be you are "accepted an included", to a position where you will always be seen as an "in-between", a TS woman, and "different".

There's no miracle pill to turn a masculine guy into a woman.

Think hard, experiment, go out in public as a woman, get an idea of the reality ....

If its suicide or transition then there isn't a question to be asked, if you can half live in a male role there are some really hard questions which only you can answer.

Please don't ask for "inspiration" as it just might give false hope ....

Pictures like that give me and probably many others, alot of hope. Alot of hope. As for the original topic, I found losing unnecessary weight is helping me quite a bit. My face is thinning nicely, a pleasant differance from my previous fat cheeks, and my midsection is slimming as well.

Hi Karen, I feel the same way at times Some of my friends tell me that at times I look too masculine, with broad shoulders and fortunately I only stand 5'9 So I really do strive to look really feminine when I do go out.

That's quite an achievment Karen Lyn  from your before and after pictures. Yes, things are possible! I see a big difference between my male self and my female self. {If anyone wants to see what my male side looks like, please e-mail me.}
Personally I have found that as long as I don't worry about what others are thinking of me and just being me, I get along a lot well.

That's a very interesting theory. As for me, I amy have to wiat to actually act on it, because of my finanacial and medical situation.
