Title: body hair (oh how I hate thee)
Post by: Daszuber on April 04, 2012, 12:11:22 AM
Hello!
Long time since I've been on here!
so I'm like 2 months away from starting HRT (OMG!!!) and still in the process of getting this oh-so-fun electrolosis on my face, and it got me thinking, because of the damn pain, but body hair and HRT: how much will estrogen eraticate body hair?
I am somewhat, but not quite Sean Connrey-esque when it comes to torso hair development (maybe not as thick and lush lol, but it's damn all over) so just seeing what the most cases are for this? I'd rather not have to do lazer or anything but ayyie!!
Thanks! <3
Katie Z  :)

Most of my hair seems less coarse, but the follicle count hasn't decreased much at all... if any.

It won't kill the follicles, unfortunately... but it should make the hairs a little finer. That's what has happened to mine so far, at least. Fortunately, I started HRT right before my 19th birthday but even then I utterly hate what little hair I do have. To others it seems like just a little, I guess, but to me... god, it's all over the place. I hate it.

Anyway... I feel your pain. Literally. Right now I'm doing laser but I want to get my entire body done with electrolysis at some point. If only I can get past my phobia of someone touching my body and looking in weird places... >.>

I've been on HRT for 6 months and my hair did get finer, though I don't think it was reduced.

I'll get all my body hair lasered eventually, I just can't stand it being there, not to mention I find it annoying to depilate.

I have been on HRT for several years and am now post-op and none of it has had any effect on body hair unfortunately.

If that is you in the avatar photo then you would be a good candidate for laser which is quicker and easier than electrolysis. I am having the major hairy areas (like chest and face) done, but the rest of my is getting waxed and epilated which, combined with hormones, seem to be doing the job OK. Four sessions of laser have made a big difference although I will need some electrolysis on the face to clear some greys.

[edit - just looked more closely at the STAR TREK avatar, so I guess that is not you..... ]

I've never had body hair but it must be a nightmare for those who do!

I've been on Estrodial for nearly five months and it has done almost nothing for my body hair.  I need to mention that I am Greek, and Greek men are hairy.  As I don't currently have the money for electrolysis (that money will be going for eventual FFS), I've been epilating it in the mean time.

After a bit more than a year of zoladex and estradiol I've got significantly less body hair than I had before, but I still have light hair in annoying places that I don't want it.

The good news is, as the hair gets softer and more downy, it becomes quicker and easy to get rid of with hair removal creams.
