What are your favourite bands that never quite made it? They might be local bands that forever bubble under, weird little side projects or bands that do quite nicely touring and selling enough albums, but never quite made the big time.
My favourite two are Misty's Big Adventure and Flipron.
We had a lot of local bands here that never had any international exposure before the Internet and YouTube.
Anyone who is into Lap Steel or Slide Guitar should check out The Dave Hole Band, from Perth.
Karen.
What I hear of Perth is that it has quite a good music scene. I like the brother/sister combo of Sleepy Jackson and Little Birdy.
I had a couple of mates live over there for 6 months some years ago and they said the same thing about the live music scene.

I would have to go with
The New Yardbirds. They toured Scandinavia in the summer of 1968.
Flipper in the 70s, The Replacements in the 80s, I'm also very fond of Adrian Legg and David Lindley - but he has played on hits, they just were not his.
The Replacements had plenty hits where I've lived.
My favorite no hit band at the moment is a local group called World's Greatest Ghosts. They're silly and exuberant indie rock, nothing complicated, but they make me happy. I like Boy Eats Drum Machine, Typhoon, Parenthetical Girls, Yeasayer, Boat, Tsuung, Clinic...I'm probably leaving out lots of better groups but that's what I can think of right now.
Does anyone remember the Texas-based band, Bloodrock?
I love Clinic - if that's Clinic as in be-masked short song mumbling band... They had a B-Side called Porno which is my uter favourite moping around song.

Yeasayer.
