My computer has had little flickering lines up and down the display for a couple days, and the screen image has been shrinking for a week or so. It's an old emac, so I can't even get the case open or switch out the monitor. My internet is due for shutoff on wednesday, and I don't think I'll bother trying to prevent that if the machine is dying anyway. So yeah. I'll visit from libraries if that happens but I don't think I'll do so regularly until I get in-home access again.
:(
Bummer. I hope this, and everything else you deal with, gets sorted out soon.
I'm sorry to hear that felix :( You definitely will be missed... I hope you can work out the various issues you are dealing with soon and be able to find away to visit regularly again
Hugs
Good luck as you work things out. Maybe you will get lucky and it will clear up.
That sucks. :( We hope you can make a quick return to us as soon as you can! -hugs-
I would miss you Felix. A cheap prepaid phone is what gets me here. Hugs, Devlyn

I'm pretty sure replacing my access device won't be difficult, but fifty dollars a month is a lot for internet, and if I can go without for a few months (and pay off the hundred I owe) then I'll qualify for the ten dollar a month service. Also I just can't deal with this on top of trying to find a place to live.
I won't be gone until Wednesday, and I won't stay gone. I'll go volunteer at freegeek and try to get a laptop so I can access wifi. Also the public computers at the university library are somewhat private and tend not to have waitlists like the ones at the county library.
Ugh. But it sounds like you have a plan, so that's good.
Will definetly miss you around here!!
I might be wrong about wednesday. The monitor image takes up just 3/4 of the screen now, and it's tilted and flickering a lot. I should probably turn it off but packing up my house is making me sad and I don't want to turn it off. I'll be prioritizing my email over Susan's (because that's how the school talks to me) so if I go awol long anybody can contact me by the address on my profile.
And thanks everybody. :)
*gives you a hug*
Pop in when you can, hon. I really like hearing what you have to say about things.
Felix, you'll be sorely missed. Even for a day
Love

I'll miss your wisecracks Felix dude :(
Come when you can - it's good having you around xx
I should be happy only my letter U needs me to press hard and the dash doesn't work at all. Darn flies.. yea i swatted them and hit my keys..
Hey Felix we will be there with yo in spirit. Pay down those bills and get that 10.00 rate. hugs D
I hope you manage to sort things out Felix, God bless you.
Comcast has been satisfied and the computer is still flickery and fickle but I'm going to orientation at freegeek on Thursday. You can get a free computer from them after 24hrs of volunteer work, and it looks like I can do it in irregular shifts so it won't mess with my daughter's school or therapy schedule.
I still have to make a decision regarding when to cut it off for 90 days so I can qualify for the low rate. If freegeek happens to have any laptops then I'll be able to access wifi.
The other thing to deal with is that the machines they give out have no operating system. I'm pretty sure they use Linux in their build program. Maybe it's time to head in that direction. Hmm.

Not to discourage you from Linux, but you are legally entitled to use whatever OS was on your old computer on the new one without purchase of a new license.
I just mention this so you don't feel you MUST switch now and get frustrated.
Thinking about your Felix.
Hurry back as soon as you can.
I'll miss you, hope everything works out for you.Hugs,Rachael.
