Hey guys,
How are your hands?
I've been on hormones for 3 years now, everything is going great but I feel like my hands are still...wimpish, I suppose? They aren't girly whatsoever, but they are smallish and skinny. I hate shaking hands with other guys because their hands are big and 'manly' like and it makes me feel slightly insecure. Even looking at their hands annoys me. Why haven't mine changed?
Does anyone else have this problem?
It's rare for your hands to get any bigger even with T. Being 3 years on hormones I'm sure you know this, but sometimes T will make the veins more prominent or cause hair to grow on them and that helps to bring a more male appearance. Don't get your hopes up for a size increase though.
I have the same issues with my hands. Don't like shaking hands and don't like people seeing them at all because they're so freakishly small. They look wrong on me. I have visions of losing them both in a freak accident and getting cool bionic ones in their place. Then they could be scaled more truly to size. ;D

I smirked at this.
So badass - that's all I can really say.
Yeah, I'm only 5 months on T, but I've read a lot of places that your hands won't grow. There's a chance they may grow if you haven't completed puberty, but that's not your case =/. I didn't finish female puberty, but my hands have not gotten bigger, just meatier which makes them seem less scrawny
I hate my hands. They actually grew a little--my gloves don't fit anymore--but it's not enough to make a difference.
I've always been fixated on men's hands, and now it's even worse.
FWIW, weight training can help your hands.
Yeah I hate how small my hands are as well. The good news is, most people really don't seem to notice.
I had one girl remark on it once when I was carrying a bunch of small objects in my hands. The fact that I couldn't carry more gave me away. I don't think she drew any conclusions about it. I just shrugged and moved away.
Pretty sure most guy's hand don't get bigger. Not solely from T anyway. More masculine though I suppose, like tvc said.
Mine haven't grown, but I have significant hair on the backs of my hands and my veins stick out, although they've always been that way. Keeping my nails very short helps as well.
I feel like my hands are proportionate to my body/frame. I have longer fingers than most, including other guys. Compared with this tall, big, meaty-handed (lol) guy I knew, my fingers were longer even though my palm was smaller than his. So I don't feel so bad about it.
Bulk up those hands! Well fingers at least. You can get a tool to strengthen your fingers. Guitarists use them to strengthen fingers for use on the fretboard. Not a great solution but it may help. Check your local music store and good luck.

Lots of the players I know just use a tennis ball or other small rubber ball.
@Tekla
That works as well. It just depends on if you would like to work each finger individually.
My hands are small, and my wrists are delicate. I love shaking hands. It calls attention to my calluses and strong grip.
I could be wrong but I don't think HRT does anything to your hands unless you start really young to where the bone structure is affected.
Don't feel bad I was born bio-male and I had small hands and small wrists too. Nobody ever made fun of me for it. =P
Awesome replies everyone, thanks! I feel better knowing my hands won't change with hormones, so I can stop waiting. If I had bigger hands I'd look quite strange anyway, I have small wrists and arms. I'd look like one of those hand shaped fly swatters...
My hands are ridiculously soft which is something I can change, so maybe I'll go lay some bricks with my Dad and work up some calluses. 8)
Once the long bones have stopped growing at about puberty, bone structure won't change a lot, unless you get arthrirtis :o, but you may develop muscle that will make your hands 'more manly' . That said I remember reading that Grid Iron players hate shaking hands as the fans want to show how manly they are and squeeze the players hand, and usually their hands are so damaged the last thing they want is that.
Hands very a lot, I was told years ago that a give away for MtF was the hand structure. My hands are small and feminine, and I have a GG friend who has hands like flippers. Many male surgeons have small hands and long fingers, rather feminine looking.
Anecdotally, I know a transguy who says he went up from a women's small to a men's small/medium in gloves, but that's all anecdotal (much like all the transwomen who get shorter on estrogen). In most cases, no, your hands aren't going to change much.
FWIW, I'm on the transmasculine spectrum and have utterly miniscule hands :D

There's more than just bones in our hands.
A friend of mine gained at least one size from his weightlifting activities after he had already been on T for years. His hands now look much closer to typical male size for guy his height and and build. And if hands can become larger through weight training, why not through HRT, which increases muscle mass? I gained half a size on HRT; I'm assuming that's because I picked up muscle everywhere. I certainly wasn't pumping iron.
I'm bummed, though, that I can't wear my favorite black gloves anymore. Well, they were getting old anyway.
