I'm not sure if every place does it but if you had to chose which one would you prefer TSA-wise.
I haven't been in a plane before but I intend to one day and would personally chose the pat down. I don't like the idea of the workers seeing me through a scanner. Also it would probably be the only times in my life where I will be groped so why not.
Pat down. But once they did do a full body x-ray on me. Luckily I was taped so maybe they didn't see anything "extra".
Pat down because I'm a slut.

This.
A million times this.
I think the last time I flew was 09, and I don't remember anything but metal detectors and bag checking. And we had to take our shoes off.
I'd rather be scanned than patted down. I don't really want anyone touching me all over.
Depends who's doing it, and how soft their hands are. >:-)

I love the new avatar! Do you merge your pooch with your own picture?

I did that due to a thread a while back. Makes me look way cuter, doesn't it?

First thing that came to mind ...
Dr Peter Venkman:
Okay, so my girlfriend's a dog.
I always opt to be groped. Soooo not stepping into the cancer machine. I've been dosed with more than enough radiation already.
Besides... she might be cute.
"Sluts form a queue on the left."
I'll go with a bit of groping anytime, also I like to mess with people's heads when they find what's down there! >:-)
Karen.
I've only had the pat down, and both times the person has looked confused while touching my chest and said "what are you wearing?"
I just say it's a compression shirt and they let me on through. How they choose to interpret what I'm compressing is up to them :P
I'd prefer to go back to my routine of sitting in the lounge warming up by drinking some watered-down and overpriced cocktails while waiting until the very last second to have to get on board the airplane with my uninspected carry-on luggage so we could start the serious drinking, thank you very much.
Flying pretty much is the event where the phrase 'sucks donkey balls' was coined. The TSA sucks, the airline staff sucks, the flight crew sucks. They all abuse you in different ways and as an experience it's just an abuse-stack surrounding a basically cramped iccky couple of hours of actual transport.
But to answer the question I don't think it makes any difference, it's not security, it's security theater so it's not really doing anything, it just looks like it is. No one is going to 'see anything' because no one is really looking and no one really cares. No one is going to get groped in any interesting way, because no one really cares. These people for the most part get paid McDonald's level wages and in turn put in a stellar McDonald level performance. The only time anything happens to anyone is when someone questions their authority and then they go all Cartman on everyone.
Pat down. The scan is not happening for me.
When baggage handlers are convicted of shipping drugs in containers, you know it's just a PR exercise really.
I always figured that if I could start a no-search/no-kids airline I'd be rich. I think my slogan would be "NOT DRUG DEALERS, but #1 with drug dealers" Not even anyone the most ruthless terrorist ever is going to try to seize an airplane full of American's who haven't been searched for weapons or drugs.
The no-kids would just be a bonus.
I've had the pat down and I've been scanned. I honestly don't care one way or the other. I preferred the scan because it was quicker, but I always had fantastic TSA staff whether it was the scan or the pat down. I'll probably always take the scan when offered because I like the quick-ness of it.
