Title: Nice old times - Art Deco - architecture, fashion, etc.
Post by: Medusa on April 20, 2012, 08:55:01 AM
Hi,
I want to start little uncommon topic here.
I really like way how even common and boring things if that era was decorated, turned to something organic and warm, it make dark reality more friendly and smooth.
I like things and ways from before functionalism era

What do you think about Art Deco - architecture, fashion, etc. and similar ways

I also asking because I want to build a house and I would like something like this (http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2482/3639988529_c1875ca9dc_b.jpg) maybe with more dominant entrance like this  (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dct66/447046337/sizes/z/in/photostream/)
I really love that architectural style and how everything was piece of art and also have its organic smoothness

I like Deco styles in architecture, particularly the curved styles of building you've shown. There are a few remnants of deco around my town that are very similar. A cuppla things that bug me about Deco - it seemed to push Nouveau aside which of course is heresy, and the Chrysler 'gotham' building always gets used so much in movies, sometimes I wanna scream. But honestly Deco is a lovely choice.

The first image was really cool. It's simple and elegant, and eye-catching at the same time.

I can't honestly say that I like all the art deco architecture I've seen, but there is a great deal that I find intriguing.
