Title: wearing heels
Post by: Raneth on April 27, 2012, 09:44:11 AM
I got hit pretty badly with the height stick (I'm 6ft tall), should I wear heels or will this make me stand out even more so than I do already?  I love heels, but I am scared that I'll get clocked a lot more readily if I do where them.  I know that there are tall cis-girls that wear them, but they're built like women whereas I'm more like an upside down triangle.

I found myself a very tall boyfriend which gives me a complete free pass on heel height when I'm with him  :)

I do normally wear flats when I'm out on my own tho. As much as I love heels I do think flats help me blend in more easily.

I'm 5'11"

If I see a pair of shoes I like then unless there is a similar pair without heels I but the heeled ones with no more thought.  When I dress to go out if a pair of heels match the outfit then that is what I wear.

If you feel comfortable with your choice of footwear and feel it helps your outfit, then that confidence will overcome any "OMG that person is tall so it must be a man".  I have seen many women around here taller than me and still wearing heels.

Be yourself and all else follows.

I'm like 6' 3" or 6' 4", so I'm pretty tall myself, but I have noticed once in a while while out shopping or whatever that there are some tall "genetic" women, too (or at least I think they are "genetic"), so I wouldn't worry about the height issue too much.  As long as your overall appearance and tone is that of a woman, your height shouldn't be a serious problem.  Carry yourself with confidence and you'll be fine.

well

I used to be a little worried about my weight, but these days I went "screw it" :D. My body shape is tubular at this point, so I pass, despite being tall. Just work on your presentation, I think.

No. No. No. What you tall girls are doing is wrong. Box up all your heels and send them to me for ahh, further testing! Hugs, Devlyn

I don't like wearing heels and I'm 5' 7".  Many women here are shorter than me and I don't want to look a lot taller.

My wife Nikki is an MTF and she is 5"9 and always complains she is way to tall to wear hills. I told her no your not some hot models are tall and they wear hills. I sometime put my heels on when Nikki has hers on in the house so she does'nt feel that bad! I think your never to tall to wear heels! Heels are very sexy!

I think it's a personal preference.  But if you do wear them, wear them with STYLE AND CONFIDENCE!  I am 6'2", and I LOVE heels....  My very dear friend is a GG, and she's 6' tall, and also wears heels....  Tall is beautiful baby!  You just have to own it if you do it.  Height alone doesn't give you away, in my opinion...

3" tall heels on Nikki would only then be as tall as I am barefoot.  If she is not comfortable then by all means avoid them because confidence is key to passing.

5'10" Here. I usually wear 5" and 6" heels.  No one says a thing. I have good legs and I'm not afraid to show them.

The other day I was in line (as a boy) to pay for gas and this girl was in come cute 6" pumps with 2" platform.  She stood 2-3" taller than me.  She was gorgeous. No one thought she was a man.

Yikes.....

3" is about as high as I go, but part of that is because around here anything more is negative attention getting on ANYONE.  I guess this shows a lot of it also depends on where you live.

I'm 5'11" and wear 4 inch heels regularly. Not stripper shoes... but nice, MK, Jimmy Choo, Prada heels.

Also as someone mentioned above... date taller guys... it also helps.  ;)

^This.  If you're tall to start off with you're going to draw attention regardless.  Revel in it, find a personal style and just enjoy yourself. In any case, what's more important is that shoes go with whatever you're wearing =)

4" is my comfortable limit - I can still run in 4"- any higher and I'm likely to do a face plant *lol*

I'm 6'2"  :)   Yes, I got whacked with the tall stick too   I like heels but I am also somewhat of a comfort creature so I tend to feel most comfortable in open toed sandals with a 1-2" wedge

Something like these

I actually have these for daily casual wear

I just recently got my first pair of heels. All I can say is... Why didn't I come out sooner? 4 inch heels a size too small hurt in such a good way lol.

Not only was I hit with that same tall stick, according to a renowned SCUBA diving equipment manufacturer, I have "Super Extra Large" feet  :'(  My shoe choices are often limited to extremely ugly or butt ugly.  Heels tend to be more garish then flats. A concept I don't really understand.

When I first started out back in the 70's, I was worried sick about standing out. The average height for males in my age group is 5'9" and I was 6 ft even. Flats I felt were the order of the day. The absolutely last thing I wanted and needed was to stand out.

These days with a ton of self confidence later and lots of tall GGs I am hardly self conscious about my height. Plus, I am an inch closer to my goal height of 5'4"  ;D I often wear heels but the height is in the 2-3 inch max zone. I feel in love with boots and anything decent to wear has a heel.

I think the biggest factors influencing my choice of footwear has been self-acceptance followed by self confidence. As the lifelong accumulation of shame and guilt faded, so did the perception that everyone within 1/4 mile was staring at me (usually no matter what I was wearing)

Plenty of tall woman wear heels.. so dont worry

Yes, heels can hurt your feet.. but it makes your legs look great... than one advantage we have over g-girls.. mtf transexuals normally have better legs.. that why it oftens mens legs on pantyhose packages..

i wear a lot of heels.. ok, i am relatively short...

im 5ft11 maybe 6ft and i sometimes wear heels, if you want to and hav the confidence then go for it :-)

They also make your legs look longer and make your bum more perky ;)

It's not a big worry for me since I'm 5'5" but I think if you're taller it kinda depends on how well you pass otherwise... if people think you look masculine then they'll take wearing heels as drag-y.

But, if you have the confidence, sure why not  :)
