So, I was originally going to write about how I came so close to 2 steps today.
The first: I went to lunch with a co-worker. She's a psych student and I told her today how I went back to therapy, just not what type. She's also one of my closest friends. I stopped just short of telling her.
The second: I ran a bunch of errands after work and went to Target. My plan was to buy some polish and do my toe nails. I've never done them before so I was really looking forward to it but when I got to the polish aisle, there were a bunch of people and I chickened out. Booo.
I was playing video games tonight when my batteries died (on both controllers) so I had to run out to the grocery store to get more batteries. It was late and the place was empty so guess what I did....

Leggings and nail polish. Good thing the picture doesn't show what a sloppy job I did but I'll get better.
I used to do something similar too... wear something feminine in the middle of the night to go and buy something from a vending machine ;D It was pretty scary!

I was in shorts. I put the leggings on after the polish dried. I'm still not ready to wear anything feminine in public just yet.
I honestly can't stop looking at my toes. This is now the most feminine thing I've done. First of many.
That's excellent, hon! Remember, the longest journey begins with a single step. Hugs, Devlyn
Did you put "Feet" on purpose as a pun?
:D
Oh and don't worry about doing a crappy job.
To this day I'm still the worst nail painter. and i've been doing this since I was 15.
The first time I put on toenail polish, I felt *so* feminine! I was still in the closet at work, but did do my fingernails...one time a co-worker said, "I bet you do your toes, too!" I think I blushed and said, "Not yet!" (But my toenails were already red! LOL)
Shortly after, I went into Wal-Mart...and while "randomly" walking thru the women's shoe aisle, I found a pair of sandals that were gorgeously simple...I wore them all summer last year. They were my first article of women's wear that I wore in public, with my "magenta" nails. (I did get some looks, esp from teen girls LOL)
Good job on the painting, btw. From here, I can't see any errors.

That's what nail salons are for. I can't get mine right either, one hand will look great and the other will be awful, so I just go to the salon regularly, but I've also had acrylics for the last 4 years constantly too.

As you can see I'm sitting on a recliner. I think the leggings do it for me. The painted, feminine feet coming out of the leggings are mine! I can't help but see them as I watch tv. It doesn't look right in shorts since I did not shave my legs and I won't until I'm out to my friends.
Ironically, the right big toe is the best one I painted and it was the first one I did. I hesitated for 1/1,000,000th of a second. I'm going to get better at it. I already want to try different colors. I like black. I thought red was too cliche so I didn't get that, yet.
Congratulations on a great "step" in your journey! I'm somewhat close in terms of amping up my femininity. I could only buy polish if I told the sales lady that it was for someone else lol.
Always a good first step. I go to work with my finger nails polished and no one has ever said anything. But I think everyone knows about me by now
I remember the first time I painted my toe nails.. I flet so femine..
Congrats on this wonderfull step
I was a little sad this morning when I had to remove the polish but I guess that just means I get to do it again...soon. Yay!
Maybe a new color next time?
I'm 10 months in full time and I never once thought about nor wanted to put nail polish on my toe nails :P
My feet are uber manly it just seems so wrong anyways so lucky I'm not really "girly"

Why remove it? No one knows except you and me and.... We won't blab

It would be pretty obvious in sandals, plus it was already starting to peel.
My first (still only) time was a few months ago, I bought White since it's my favorite noncolor, I felt so feminine and it made me really happy. My parents never even noticed it when I walked around barefoot, which made me giggle. I ended up removing it because the fear I'd get caught overwhelmed me.
I should apply some more this week~
Uh oh. Look at you go! Baby steps are great aren't they :)
I remember my first baby step. I went out and bought some exfoliation product. The clerk asked me if it was for my girlfriend. I told her no.. it's for me. I was nervous too ;)
And just remember: 1 base coat, 2 color coats, 1 top coat. It'll look much better and last longer!

This is some kind of quick drying, 1 coat only polish. I was too nervous to really shop. Even though it was real late and the store had less than 10 people in and I used self check-out, I was still too nervous to really shop. Of course once I got home, first thing I did was apply.
I want to get nude for my fingers.

Lol.
You apply a second coat when the first one dries.
But you should always put a base coat first, if you want pretty nails that last more than 1-2 days atleast.

lots of men shave their legs these days , its quite normal i think you can safely shave them without it outing you as trans

Whatever makes you happy, I'm not here to judge! Rofl!
I know you didn't get the polish to get good results, but if you ever want good results, get Finger Paints. They sell it at Ulta. And you always need a base coat. That stuff is the glue to polish. The top coat gives them the shine and a barrier against scratches and whatever else may mess up your work. Most coats of paint will dull out after a day or two (I've seen some dull out within minutes) of application.

Like I said, I need to learn to get better at it. It seems like it would be fun to do while watching TV. ;)
I'm looking forward to getting a mani/pedi.
I hate having my feet touched... but a pedicure is nice.
I personally HATE HATE HATE giving them... especially to a guy that never cleans his toenails.. the smell is yuck.

I can honestly say I have 0.00 opinion of people touching my feet. I can't really remember anyone trying to touch them, actually. :P
Don't worry about a messy paint job on your toes. The excess will rub off your skin in a day or two.
I wore clear polish on my fingers for a month or so before I resigned my last job prior to coming out. Nobody noticed. :)
I have UV-cured Shellac these days. It lasts for weeks even if I am playing guitar a lot.
Karen.
