Title: Something a little more lighthearted!
Post by: LoveInMyEyes on April 30, 2012, 10:52:49 PM
Hey SOs!  :icon_wink:

My guy's graduation is coming up and I am one of a handful of people who know about his transition so far. He is just starting out (only about a month into transitioning, transmasculine possibly FTM) and I want to get him something for graduation that he will really like. Any ideas? I guess I am kindof looking for the "thing every FTM needs".

Help?

Maybe?

Thanks for reading!  ;D

I would suggest either a packer or a binder if he doesn't already have one. The binder might be a less awkward option though, especially if you're a parent, but likely either or will do.

A lot depends upon how much you can afford.

But something masculine and personal. I'm thinking, aftershave.

A lot depends upon what he likes. Generally, girls tend to buy men something that they hope will push them in the direction they want them to go.

My wife gave me a guy's watch with an engravement on it ---Time does not change us it unfolds us --- shortly after I started transitioning --- it is very special to me & it was personal and it acknowledged that I wanted to been seen as a guy.  She searched for a watch that wasn't as large as a typical guy watch so it looked proportional to what a typical guy watch would look like.

A gun.

That's not a metaphor.

I would definitely have to agree with Robert Scott. A watch would be a perfect gift, especially engraved. It says so much being a metaphor as well. And he can have it forever. :)
