Title: Nipple piercings.
Post by: Joeyboo~ :3 on May 08, 2012, 10:54:22 PM
When is it "safe" to get one even though my boobs are still growing and what not.

I'm getting it done in celebration for my friend's 18th birthday.
Which will be in September, and i'll be over a year on HRT by then.

Just wanna get feedback.

Ask your doctor. You should see them by then. I honestly don't think it's entirely safe, but you never know, maybe it is.

Also, personal comment: GYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH.

Hi Joey

Here is a link to a thread from a couple of months ago.

Nipple rings (MtF) (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,115335.msg884061.html#msg884061)

Are you thinking about bars, curved bars, rings, and/or shields?

If the nipple is not big enough to support the piercing, it has to be done through the areola.

Yikes!

Yikes!

I thought it had to go through the base of the nipple, and they just used a different gauge depending on the size. Piercing through the areola can lead to infections and stuff if a milk duct gets blocked...

Personally, I'm waiting till I've finished growing / decided if I'm getting implants. Nipple piercings already have a decently high chance of rejection. No sense stacking the odds against. And lots of other things I can punch bits of metal through in the meantime. ;D

I'm not pierced ... yet ... but smaller gauge piercings tend to migrate.
So I'm told.

I had a safety pin in my left nipple during my young deathrocker/punker days  :)  But then again I also had safety pins all over my face and they were all connected by silver chains that formed a spider web (Musicians can be strange folks)

Anyway, that was long before I ever knew transitioning was possible and the pin in my nipple got ripped out during a bit of a tussle

Being that you are on HRT, I would not recommend it unless you are a sadomasochist  :)  But if that's the case, enjoy the pain

Although rare, some women with "inverted nipples" get areola piercings.

Not totally unheard of.  Male safety pin nipple piercing:

No, not unheard of  :)   But I've never seen anyone else with a spider web of silver chains (various necklaces hooked together to form a spider web) attached to one

LOL... That one's got me beat   Besides, my crazy hey days were 20-30 years ago

Poor Joey, sorry to jack your thread... If you want a nipple piercing go for it, just make sure to keep it in good shape so you don't get an infection and make sure it's not to heavy so you don't end up one perky and the other a sager

Hugs

I have considered barbells with shields.

Wish I could post a picture, but it would violate policy.  You'll have to look it up.

Well I do have small breasts, and I'm sure they're not going to get much bigger since my mom's rack ain't all that either.

Piercings are sexy.
I know it'd raise my confidence.
And in my opinion, most other people who find piercings sexy, are also sexy themselves.

So it all works out.

That shouldn't be a problem.  It's jewelry.  It just enhances what you have.

This thread arises my curiosity... I see/hear of so many piercings in "non-classic" places here that I really want to ask... Are piercings especially popular amongst trans people? Or are they just popular in young people, and since I'm not very social, I never knew? Or is it an English country thing?

Because, I don't know... I've always found the vast majority of piercings gross, and most people with whom I spoke of this at least partly agreed (i.e. "I'm okay with the nose and lip, but nipples, genitals, tongue, upper ear, all that grosses me out!") I was shocked to see the difference... But maybe my "sample" was just too small. After all, I really don't speak of things like that every day.

It's a young people thing trans, gay, lesbian, or alien. Trust me xD

I have 12g "vertical" barbells in mine, I have quite long nips so there was more than enough room to put them in just above the base...I really like them alot!!  Had them in since last November and have had no issues at all.

sometimes the pain of the piercings distracts your mind from the pain of other things...its not all bad ;)

I decided to do this.
I'm only getting one done though.

Because having only one is cool.

Makes me all mysterious-like~~

I hope you all know I'm kidding.

I'm actually a bit conservative and usually seen as a "clean cut" type of person...in my personal revolt against that image  I have had numorous piercings, but none where the public could see them...also in my quest to make the "boy parts" go away or at least be disguised in my mind I have had several down there over the years, I took them all out now that I can be the real me in 3D a bit more...hard to explain, but it makes sense to me ;)

really do like my pierced nips though...and I am far from being young, lol

It may be a "West Coast" thing as its quite common here across many demographics

Advice on piercings,

if you have one that is really bothering you and not doing well take it out! Don't try and play a waiting game to see if it will get better! It's not worth the risk

Good advice about taking them out if infected. The danger, among others, is septicaemia, which is a very nasty condition and unfortunately it can develop very quickly and can lead to 'shock'  and multi-organ shutdown. If you are lucky someone may get you to Intensive Care, if unlucky to the funeral parlour.

Woman who wish to breast feed are advised not to get nipple piercings as they may disrupt or prevent milk being released. Of course this may not be a problem for all of us. Sadly.
