Is it just me, or is there problems connecting to the site at times??
I've been having trouble usually around 4-5 AM EST occasionally. It usually persists for about an hour.
mine can be any time, yesterday it was in the morning
seems sundays are also trouble..

Yesterday was bad. Site was unusable for most of the day. It was bad enough that I'm assuming the site administrators noticed something.

Same here, about 1-2am PST. I usually blame the Aussies for the traffic jam.... ;) (It'd be about 1500-1700 their time)

Same for me in SA. COMPLETELY STUCK...
Maybe db maintenance / clean-up, db off-load on-load, that would explain it. Who knows...

This is a pretty well known issue which will be fixed eventually, just have to wait for it :-\

That must be it. The Aussie mafia protection payments have been a little late, and see what happens? ;)

What about us po folk .. what do we have to do to stay online? I can trade ya some fresh home grown strawberries but when i smear them on my puter they just get all messy .. but i have wiped them into your mouth area cindy.. di ja tastem
Server bandwidth is maxing out and during high traffic periods and can function like a denial of service attack knocking the site offline until the traffic level settles down. It's gonna take around 12k to cover the new servers, generator, and installation fees, for a new higher bandwidth setup which I don't have at this time. One generous member of the site has agreed to donate part of that. And another was going to help with some of the remainder but has been unable to do so as a result of real life issues, but that stilll leaves us between 6-7k down from being able to move on with this. Unfortunately I am maxed out at what I can provide, and so don't have the funds needed to do so myself. We are limping along until the money is raised.
We will be going to new top of the line servers, from 1.5mbs to 40mbs connections. Due to the size of the databases and disk storage for the site using cheap webhost provider isn't possible.
Anyone interested in helping out let me know.
Since December 2006 we had 4,139,711 Unique Visitors, accounting for 44,944,434 page views. Bandwidth wise we are doing about 500gb per month data transfer.
We ran for 10 years before starting to use that stats program and which isn't included in the totals. I have had between 60 and 100 emails over the years from people telling me that this web site has literally saved their lives by giving them an alternative to suicide.
