Well my parents want me to move out. We had a big fight about it. I haven't been home from my breakup for a month yet. They want me to take all of my meager part time work money to save for an apt. I want to save for surgery. I know they wont budge. So if I am living on my own ALL of my money will go towards rent, and I will probably have to apply for food stamps. Anyway I know I cant save up for surgery right now if they want me to move out, I need to know about more options for funding my surgery.
garramone's website used to have a huge list of medical loans but now they only have one website, and I applied but not approved because I have no credit history.
any other ideas? bank loans, credit cards?
I have found a surgeon who is only an hour away from me, and she charges 7,500, which is more then garramone, but I would save money by not needing a hotel or plane tickets.

I'm in the same situation. It's really difficult for me to find a job where I can get enough hours to save money, and I have an apartment, cell, internet, electric, etc to pay for. It's such a pain in the ass, and I'm about to have to apply for food stamps myself. Being on your own on part-time or LESS money is hard enough, especially when you're trying to save for surgery.
I'm already taking all I can out for school loans, and that's enough to help a LITTLE. But no where near what I need...
So I thought about the credit card option as well. You should be able to be approved by them, even without credit... but your interest would be insanely high... so idk if it's a good route for me. I'm not sure if you could swing it, but it's definitely a possibility if you can't hold off much longer for surgery.
I would suggest looking for roommates. You live in Murf. so I would check out and see if MTSU students need roommates for the summer... itd definitely be better paying half or a third of the rent and having to deal with other ppl, than it would be to front the whole thing and have problems saving.
While I notice that you've been sort of financially outcast by your 'rents, you can apply for a loan and have someone who does have credit history to cosign. So they're like your collateral for the loan and then you don't have to go the route of insanely high interest, just normal crazy loan interest. So maybe a close friend or other family that are friendly. Hope this helps, man.

And to get a credit card, you just go to the bank? And then I can just go have surgery and pay it off in time, and all of the crazy interest?
And oh, I do not live in murfreesboro anymore, my bf broke up with me so I had to move back with my parents in NC. I do have a friend that needs a new apt/roommates so maybe we can find a ->-bleeped-<-hole somewhere and really save money lol.

Yeah I MAY be able to do this, I talked to my dad last night (not the one I am living with who I fought with) and he said he can understand why surgery is so important and then he said something about maybe seeing how much money he could lend me. If I could get him to lend me some, or maybe even all of it then I could pay him back in time with no interest. And I could possibly see if he could be the one to apply for the loan since I have no credit history.

You can apply for credit cards online at bank websites, department store websites, even Amazon but don't do it! You most likely would only be given a credit limit ranging from $1,000-$1,300 with a very high interest rate since you don't have any previous credit. If you could take out a line of credit and then not use it or pay it off in full every month your credit score eventually would be really good. Sadly, a lot of people can't do that and they're buried underneath debt. The one thing that really ruins young people is credit card debt. Later down the line if you want to buy a car or house and need a loan to do so, your credit card debt would come back to haunt you.
What really pisses me off though is that in order to get your credit limit extended, you have to spend. There's no way you could get a credit card with a large enough limit to pay for top surgery. Now, in 10 years after of having open lines of credit in good standing with some assets and a job pulling in more than $40,000/year, you totally could. But the minimum monthly payments with that dang interest would be like a second mortgage. I once bought a newer pre-owned car with my credit card because I wanted the rewards points. I immediately turned around afterwards and paid the outstanding amount on the card in full though. If I hadn't immediately paid it off, I probably would still be paying for it.
A loan from a bank is much safer if you choose to take that route. I always prefer dealing with local community credit unions but because they're not a large bank, their loan amounts are smaller. While I could easily take out an $60,000 loan for a new car, a community credit union would only be able to offer $40,000. Something to consider though. Good luck Elijah!
Something that was given to me as an idea was to sign up for a CareCredit Card. Basically it is a credit card that can only be used for medical reasons, they have different financing options depending on what your doctor does. It might be worth looking into and I THINK their interest rates are lower than the average credit card. Plus they have a calculator on their page to calculate how much itll cost interest and all.
