Embarrassed about this because I'm pretty computer savvy for an oldster, but I can't seem to figure out how to ignore topics. I can see the (empty) list of ignored topics in my profile, as well as a bunch of buttons to unignore topics.
But I can't seem to figure out how to ignore them in the first place.
Can someone please enlighten me?
If you look in the 'Show unread posts since last visit', and 'Show new replies to your posts' sections by your avatar at the top of the page, you'll see each thread has a little check box next to it. If you tick the box of the topic(s) you want to ignore, and then click on the 'Ignore Topics' button at the top right of the threads, that will do it.
They'll no longer show up in those sections when new replies are made to them.

I'm still not getting it.
When I do that I don't see anything that looks like a checkbox. I get five columns. The first two are icons that don't appear to have any behavior when I click on them. Then subject, which seems like it's pretty much only text. Then replies, then last post, which is clickable, but just brings me to the post I haven't read.
Where am I looking for the checkbox?

Is it possible there is some setting that's keeping me from seeing it?
Check again, hon. You had quick moderation set to off in your profile. I set it to show checkboxes for you. It should be okay now.
For everyone else, for the ignore topic option, and checkboxes to show, you need to have quick moderation turned on in your profile, which you can find under the Look and Layout section.
