Okay, so it is sort of disheartening to know that Puerto Rico does not allow someone who is trans to change their gender marker. I am wondering if I can legally change the birth certificate in the U.S. I live in Florida. Is it legal or even possible?
Does anyone have any suggestions or options available to me? Other than just changing my passport? I live in Florida and even if I did change my birth certificate, I wouldn't be able to legally marry my partner. So what if I moved to another state that would accept our marriage as valid. But I ONLY had my passport changed. Would I still be legally married? With my license and social security saying I am now legally male.
I'm FTM by the way.
This is all sort of a downer at this point. If I have a child with my partner, I can't be put under his/her birth certificate as the father. Laws just suck right now. You always see things for same-sex partners but never see anything for transgender people on the news.
You can only change the birth certificate in the state (or Country) in which you were born. Where you currently live makes no difference.
