So I've been checking the Reel Magik site religiously for some time now, waiting for their basic packer to be released. Behold!
http://reelmagik.com/REELMAGIK/Basic_Packer-4.5%22.html (http://reelmagik.com/REELMAGIK/Basic_Packer-4.5%22.html)
From the website:
QuoteOur newest product, the Basic Packer, is very different than our Prosthetic Penis models. The packer was designed for those of our customers that want a realistic feeling penis to pack with, but do not require the absolute realism of our top of the line prosthetics. The 4.5" Basic Packer was created using the same mold that our 4.5" Prosthetic is made from, which means it retains the ultra-realistic detail and 3D scrotum of that prosthetic, however it is made very differently. The Basic Packer is created by using only 2 layers of soft silicone (in contrast, our Prosthetic Penis models have up to 6 layers of silicone). This still provides a very realistic feeling flaccid penis, and will lay and tuck very nicely in the pants, much like a real penis. Unlike other packer models on the market, our Basic Packer is not sticky, and should not need to be powdered.
These Basic Packers will be available in 3 standard colors: Caucasian, Asian, and African-American. They will also be available in 2 levels of consistency: soft and firm.
These products CANNOT be adhered to the body. They are made to sit in briefs, or held in place using a standard harness.
It does not ship immediately, about 7-10 business days of purchase date. Weight: 9.2oz, Length: 4.5", Girth: 4" (at widest point). Costs $69.99 + shipping.
I'm in the same boat, I'm constantly on their page. I just read the news and I have to admit it's tempting as I'm looking for a new addition.
Sooooooooo tempting! Especially with the part about it not being sticky! It would also be a very good way for me to test out the 4.5 mould and see if it fits for my body, and as a temporary solution between now and when I can finally afford a proper one.
The only question for me really is what's the different between the soft and firm? Is firm 'usable for intercourse' firm, or just not quite so squishy as something like a Mr Limpy?
silicone will never be as squishy as cyberskin, so I'd probably go with the soft one to be on the safe side (i find the mr. right to be way too firm).
I'm also quite amazed, i just wish they had an option to buy it with a hole through the shaft to add an stp.

These are my thoughts/questions as well. Once I actually start getting paid, I think I'm going to order it to see if it's too big/right size or not before I drop $850+ on the other. I'm guessing the firm is closer to the Mr Right like emil suggested. I plan on emailing them and ask before I buy anything.
I thought guys would be interested: They've added a meter to the page. It gives a rating to softness/hardness. 0 is Karo syrup to 10 bathroom caulk.
A marshmallow is 1, gummy candy 4, and gel shoe insole 6.
They rated the soft one at 3 and the firmer one at 5. Does this help? Not sure that it would help me. However, I am very visual and see them testing this. :D
I'm sure it is not done like I picture it.

I didnt even know they had made this! Thanks for the link :) They do still look really good even tho they are only "basic". I might have to get one!
That sorta looks like mine.
o.o
@Jay Jay: Thanks! I'm glad they added that. I think I'd prefer the firm, but I'm not sure. I would like to see a video of them handling it like the other ones (a vid of the 4.5" with the flex rod would be nice too if you're reading this RM!). And maybe a comparison to the Mr Limpy ("common soft packer"), the GV packer ("soft packer from major sex store shop" or something along those lines), and the Mr Right ("silicone packer") would be helpful as well.
Waiting for first paycheck...
damn that really depends on the gel shoe insoles they're referring to, some being squishy while others are rather firm :D
I guess I'd prefer the soft one though, as a firm marshmallow sounds about right for me ..
I emailed them asking if they are planning on making an STP-ready version with a hole through the shaft, but negative.
I ordered a "soft" basic packer by Reel Magik a couple days ago. Currently I have the Mr. Right by vixen and the Aslan packing strap to go with it, but I'm thinking I may want to get the comfort harness from Peecock or make my own to go with the basic RM packer.
I will post as soon as it arrives and I get a "feel" for it! ;D
That looks so so nice, not to mention the balls. How hard is it for other companies to make 3D balls? Jeez. Pricey though.
Very cool, thanks for posting. Might have to get one. Sucks that it can't adhere to the body though, cause the realism is lost when there's a damn harness involved. :-X

Not sure if you're familiar with the company, but check out their other prosthetics. This one is based off of the other, more realistic (and tabbed) 4.5" prosthetic.
Has anyone got theirs yet? Just wanting a bit of an opinion before I place an order

Well I've hesitated to post this as I am genderqueer vs ftm. However, I suppose people will be more interested if I post this. I *finally* today (I ordered it 5/30 or so) got email that it has shipped. I honestly wondered why it takes so long to ship, and might have more if I hadn't heard good things about this company. I mighta thought they took the money and ran. Anyway, I will post when I get it.

I know we'd love to hear a review once you get it. It said on the website that the basic packer would not ship automatically. I think it's about 7-10 business days after ordering that it will ship.

Yeah it actually seems to be within the 7-10 days. What kind of surprised me is that I got the initial email and it said we will soon contact you about your order. It also refers you to a page on their site, which clearly does not refer to this product. I am guessing this is from the protheses. It doesn't really apply. I'll be happy to write a review, as it may be one of the first. I don't think I'll be on camera though.

I suppose originally it said 7-10 days as just now when I checked it said this (on the basic packer page):
"Will not ship immediately after purchase! Products will normally ship within 10-14 business days of purchase date."
I'd love some video (hoping RM puts one up soon), but any kind of review would be nice. Pictures without you in them would be cool if at all possible.
Yes, I think that is actually good enough. When you pay, they send you an auto-email saying: "Thank you for your recent purchase! Your order has been received and is now in process. Please note that your item may not be shipped immediately. Refer to the item info page for estimated handling & shipping times. Orders placed between September 1st and October 30th will be subject to longer processing and handling times due to the high number of orders we receive during that period.
If your order contains one of our Medical Prosthetics, please view our Order Production Page for more information regarding processing and shipping times. You will be notified by email when your order ships. If you have any questions concerning your order, please don't hesitate to contact us. All sales are final. Thank you!"
I think they just haven't sorted this out with the basic packer. Don't know how many people ordered. Just found out that it might come tomorrow.
I can try to video without me. But I'll do a regular review first.

I second this. I wouldn't trust myself to melt a hole through a $70 dick.
I'm really considering buying this, when they're in stock again.

It's actually more like $90 as you have priority shipping and handling. I think it requires special tools to go thru silicon vs silly putty or whatever stuff the Mr. Limpies et al are made.

I saw this on Laura's and thought I would pass along without identifying info. As I think there are not a lot of people on Laura's here. Not trying to be in sales, but there was a reference to the fact that they are out of stock.
It's actually kind of what I thought.
"We are estimating that the Basic Packers will become available again within the next 2 weeks. We received an enormous number of orders and simply could not keep up with demand. We are creating extra molds in order to increase supply. Have a good evening.

REELMAGIK"
This was posted two days ago. I really wish someone else would review this. Kind of strange that I have the *only* review I have ever seen (including youtube) and sites like Hudson's. Weird weird.
--Jay Jay
that's my post on Laura's :)
but yea, I hope it's soon, I want to get it before I go on vacation
any ideas on how to harness it? I think the elastic band method might decapitate it, that's what happened with my good vibes anyways. I was thinking the Tool Belt from toolshed. any thoughts/reviews on that?
Is anyone comfortable with posting a vid to youtube? Even just holding the packer so we can see how it looks compared to your actual skin tone, and squishing it or something. I'm intrigued by this product, and I've integrated my cheapo packer so much into my sense of self, that I feel I would benefit even more from something more realistic. I just don't want to drop a lot of money before I know more.
Oh, ok, I don't recall people's names over there and here, but I guess it's the same one (as is mine). I don't think I would use a typical harness (like an O-ring) on this one.I think a typical harness, well most of the weight is in the balls/scrotum so it won't work from a balance sort of reason. I believe the sock type arrangement (either homemade or store bought), special underwear (like tranzwear) etc. or adapting your's would work best. Just for trying to help others out here I tried pinning the fly in men's briefs and sticking the penis part in. I think this works really well. I don't own any harnesses, so I couldn't test this out. But there may be some kind it would work in. The Tool Belt would be really nice I think because it would hold the entire arrangement, if it fit that is. If you don't like the silicon next to you (it could get hot) might be a good plan.
I don't really want to post to youtube. I have a channel but I am worried about this sort of thing. AFAIK, I am the only person who has done a review at all anywhere. I think this is odd as I think they were kind of flying off the shelves (well or whatever would be the term for how ReelMagik sends things. I have no idea why that is. Haven't seen negative or positive ones.
I could try making a video and putting it on photobucket or something? Does it allow this?
If so, I could control who saw it. Or just post it here.
More info:
I do have a very lengthy review. https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,121696.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,121696.0.html)
The color: It is not going to be like one of those pricey RM ones. This is not matched to your skin or anything. It is a real color though (I got the Caucasian one). The color is good but it is light. I think looks like inside of my forearm pretty much. (Genitals are generally darker.) I don't think any of the less expensive ones have such a good color.
It is soft but does not pull or squish like a Mr. Packy, which to me is like a marshmallow. This has a bit more substance to it. The balls are the same amt of squish.
One thing is that I don't think the feel is as nice as say the GV Sailor. This is because the surface is very textured. It looks really like the pictures they posted. (I think it looks better than the LJ, at least by the photos.) But it's not too good to be true or anything. It isn't going to fool anybody. I do not regret spending the money for it. It isn't perfect by any means.
But it's a good product.
--Jay Jay
Photobucket does allow you to upload videos and keep them private so only people with the link can view them, if you are comfortable with that I would be very grateful. Do what you feel is best though.
That said, for the price and realism it probably is worth buying blind, I think I've made up my mind that I'll eventually be getting it. I do like RM's pricier stuff too but I don't like how they adhere to the skin. While that is probably the best way to pack if it is available that is just not happening for me. Don't want to have to shave.
I am pretty hung up on packer colors. Caucasian tones are always way too light. But if this one at least sort of matches up with my own skin that would be great. Now I just have to decide on if I'd order the softer or harder one.
i'd love you to make a vid too, if you're comfortable that is. For the price that is is, I'm not expecting to fool anyone, I am mostly getting to replace the GV i have now and to see if the shape is good for me. I'd rather spend 90 or so bucks and not like it then spend the 600 or so to find it doesnt work for me lol
Best? I don't know. Probably for the price. I don't have all of them-- just Mr. Limpy and the Sailor. I like the feel of the Sailor with the inside core. But there are other ways the RM is better-- silicon; lots of detail, realism, etc. Silicon is a big deal for me, as the other stuff makes me break out. I don't have other ones like Mr. Right or Peecock. So it's hard to do an exhaustive review.
The colors: well yeah it's light. You might think about the Asian one. I actually did that with the Sailor. It isn't going to fool anyone regardless. I think it's the best color of the two I have.
The pliableness-- compared with video of the $$$ 4.5 inch one. It is very similar. The difference is in that there is skin on the expensive one.
I think you'll have to experiment re: packing. I don't think it would be too hard.
Yeah I'll see re: a video. I could try this week. It could be just of the product anyway.
I'm hoping someone buys the thing and posts another danged review. LOL!
They should be paying me. But I assure you they are not. :)
BTW, RS you are a good looking dude!!
--Jay Jay
I don't need to "fool" anyone with a packer, just myself ;) I actually really like my Mr. Limpy, even though it's way too pale and squishy. Like I said I've integrated it fairly well into my overall body image, so anything even a little more sophisticated should be awesome.
If I buy it I will definitely post my own review and most likely a video to go along with it but I don't know how soon that will happen.

This is me as well. I really want the prosthetic, but before I put down nearly $1000, I'd like to see if I'm comfortable with the size/weight of it first. Not looking to "fool" anyone, just want to be happy with myself.
Yeah I didn't figure anyone really had to fool anybody. But wanted to make that clear. I wasn't happy with the other inexpensive options because of breaking out. But otherwise probably would have been okay with the Sailor.
@tvc15: Glad you'd do a review. I am feeling a bit of responsibility to the trans community which I would like to "share".
@Adio: You'd get a nice idea re: size and weight since it's made from the same mold. It's a good test. (It might be a few tens of an ounce difference.)

just ordered mine today :D
ill review when I get it, which won't be until I get back from vacation on August 20, unfortunately :(
I ordered one today as well. I am very excited to receive it. Do you think the simple harness would work with this? I am not worried about the weight of it being too heavy because I have a quite heavy packer I make do with this method. Although I am worried if the elastic would cut into the packer. I once had the Sailor I believe it was, and the simple harness nearly severed the packer. I was quite disappointed and it only cost $20 not $90. What do you all think?
i had the same thing happen to my sailer packer :(
I'm going to try the Tool Belt harness from tool shed toys but until then I have some spandex type underwear that works
I've heard that the sailor does deteriorate quickly in a simple harness. I will say, that I've had the Mr. Limpy since I think January, and have worn it in an elastic harness almost nonstop since then, and it's still good as new. So, not all packers have this problem. I'd be nervous to use a more expensive packer in that harness unless I knew it would be able to withstand the wear, but I guess that's just something we'll have to experiment with.
I gather that I will just have to experiment with it. To those who have received theirs already.... how do you wear it? Do you use a harness? I would really like to be able to use a harness because my girlfriend and I fool around sometimes with a soft packer.

I am it, afaik. I have packed with it once. I used boxer briefs. I posted on "Tool Belt Harness" about this and now it is on this page. It's a silly post that I made at 3 AM, but I describe how I did it. Anyway it worked ok. The problem with regular harnesses is that the RM is a bit heavy for that sort of thing.
It would be interesting if you could actually do anything with this (aside from pack). The shape is a bit different with the scrotum. OTOH, it is flexible. Humans are very creative on this subject.
I'll be interested when OTHER people give reviews on this. :)

Careful with ordering from these guys...estimated ship times (listed on site) are 24-26 weeks. Be prepared to wait up to 6 months.
That's only for their more expensive prosthetics...it says the basic packer ships in 10-12 days. Mine shipped in about 8 days...looks fantastic, feels pretty good to. I got the soft version...seems as though it would pass the grab test. Honestly, it just doesn't compare to their more expensive models...those look and feel amazing...the ultra realistic paint job is unbelievable. I guess that's why they cost about $500 more:)

If only the more expensive/realistic models came with STP as standard! I would gladly spend the money and learn what patience is while I waited for it.

You have to realize that there's still a lot of issues with having good and "flawless" stps even on more the high-end models. For some people, this is why an stp function may not be top priority. Instead, they are more than happy to pay for and wait to have something that was made personally for them. A lot of the reelmagik prostheses are custom ordered - in a sense, that makes them a piece of art and not something someone just took off a shelf & shipped it off to anyone. Because of how popular the company is and because the penis prostheses aren't even the only product the company custom makes, it's not that hard to see why they might take so long.

Yeah my basic packer came in about two weeks (but I got mine before they ran out of stock, so I think they must be now filling orders faster. No doesn't at all compare to the $500+ models, which makes sense or they would charge $500+ for it.
I'm not real happy with it to the touch, but it feels good to wear and looks great.
